do we know our status online exactly on June 1 ??

“Is anyone having problems with the admission office? I sent in my hs transcript three times since Janurary and they still have not received it.”

I have that same problem too. My HS has sent my transcripts twice or three times already and USC hasn’t received them. I hope they get them soon, or I don’t know what I’ll do… what do you plan on doing about this cat360 ?

RijeosXeper-
I sent my sealed transcript using next day mail and delivery confirmation. I hope this time they’ll get it!

does anyone know if it is really that much harder to transfer to USC from a private university than a cc?

generally, people claim it’s easier to transfer from a cc because there arer typically substantial difference between a that and a private university. but if you can come up with great reasons for transferring to usc and why your current school isn’t a good fit in your essays, then it shouldn’t matter where you are transferring from.

“really that much harder”. No. If anything, if you have all prereqs and many of the GE’s done at another university, it should be easier the higher your university is ranked. The only reason it’d be harder is trying to find classes that will transfer to SC. If I remember correctly, last year there were UCR students who got into marshalls with around 3.5 when the average is suppose to be around 3.8

is anyone currently a student at a UC preferably sd that’s transferring to USC?..i have a few questions. thanks!

Hi all. I’ve been following the USC transfer posts for awhile, and now I’m in a situation where I want to eventually transfer into USC. I’m not sure if I should have posted in that section or not. Anyway I’m graduating from high school this upcoming June with a 3.6-3.7 gpa unweighted and a 1970 sat. USC has been my dream school (Marshall), and I was not accepted. I got into UCI, UCD, and SCU. I’ve been considering the cc route, and attempting to transfer to USC in the fall of '08. Would it better that I attend UCI and attempt to transfer to USC, or do the cc route and attempt to transfer? I know that I would need to find out which courses transfer with UCI because USC doesn’t have an articulation agreement unlike the cc that I would attend. If I attended the cc I would be working as an assistant track coach for my high school, and as a personal trainer part time at the local gym. I feel that I would also be able to look for internships and other extracurriculars easier by staying local. These are some of the factors that have me leaning towards cc. Any opinions? Sorry for the long read. Thanks for any input provided.

Does anyone know if it’s harder to transfer to USC CLAS as a junior than a sophmore?

Does anybody if this year’s transfer admission rate is going to be lower than the freshman class?

Also does anybody know if a 3.6 GPA in CLAS is good for fall admission, or at least spring admission (assuming english, math, and pre-reqs are complete)?

it said in the letter that they sent us that they were cutting transfer admission rates by like 7% i think and I honestly don’t know about your gpa because I think it would be fine but all I know is that the average transfer gpa is like a 3.57 or something like that.

How difficult is it to transfer to Marshall from a good (but not top tier) east coast public university?

Sorry, I don’t have answers to the questions above my post… BUT… I do have a question of my own: I applied for the theatre major and I’m pretty sure I won’t get in for that, so is it likely they will admit me as an undecided major/solely on an academic basis since I have top grades? I had a 100 in high school and have a 3.93 in my first semester of college so far.

fight_on1, I honestly think that should go the cc route because you can save yourself some money in the process of doing it and might even have a slightly better chance from transferring from a cc because if you think about it, the purpose of going to a cc is to help those people get into the schools that they wanted to go to that they couldnt get in from straight out of hs. In my opinion I believe cc transfers are favored because they don’t belong to any 4 year university and they have no where else to go, unlike kids who are already attending a 4 year university already have a school that they belong to. In my opinion i just dont see the point of going to a 4 year university with the intent that you already want to transfer

marlikesithot, Keep in mind that it is going to be competitive, but I wouldnt really stress about what school your coming from. All you need to worry about is your GPA which I want to say should be around 3.7-4.0, and the classes that you are talking are transferable. Maybe what else might help could some ECs and some letter of recs.

Twentytwo, im not quite sure about your situation but I believe theres a good chance that you could be admitted for your grades so far and the reason I say “could” and not “will” is because I really dont how they decide whether your accepted or not , and since your transferring as a freshmen you don’t really need to have your major decided yet, so you should be fine.

question: I dont think I could finish my GE’s by end of the spring. Would that hurt my chance? Im done with pre-req though.

yea…is it necessary to finish all the GE’s by the end of freshmen year…considering studentes generally finish it by the end of sophomore?

I don’t think it’s necessary that you finish all of the GE. I think as long as you have completed many GEs, you’ll be fine. I’m a junior transfer and I still have 2more GEs to do.

fight_on1, I would avoid going to cc if I were you. USC doesn’t care where you transfer from as long as you’re qualified. I should know, I am a sophomore and just transferred in this fall. I met alot of transfers and they come from all backgrounds (public or private, sophomore or junior; in fact, it is pretty split evenly).

The reason I say avoid cc and go to UCI, UCD, or SCU is to get the dorming experience and overall college experience that you miss out at cc. Just get good grades and transfer in after your freshman year (or sohmore year if you want). Who knows, maybe you will find out that UCI, UCD, or SCU is the right fit for you. I was in a similiar situation and I picked CC. I regret missing out on the social experiences during my freshman year.
