Aztec09, i was just wondering what was your spring gpa when they requested them.

if USC Marshall does not accept me, I will go to UCSD, too. (Sixth)

I will tell my story too. Last year, I applied to Marshall school of Business as sophormore with 3.73 GPA. I have been requested for spring transcript from USC. And I got rejected on July 17.

davidlee0427, so you were applying as a sophmore for a junior standing right? I was also wondering what was your spring gpa when they requested it

oh my god. umm…i’m thinking of switching my admissions major from business to economics because of all these horror stories (and my own experiences outside of usc admissions). is this possible? and can i still transfer back into marshall once i’m at usc? and how do i go about doing this?

all i hear is horror stories from people who are actually in marshall

I hear it gets a easier

chocolategabanna // No, I was transferring as Sophormore to Sophormore. I had the same GPA 3.73 for last spring semester. so total GPA was 3.73 - the Problem was I did not finish enough USC GE classes done by dat time.

davidlee…so are you saying that ge’s must be finished? i’m looking to transfer in as a sophomore to marshall. i’ll have all my prereq done, but i definitely will not have ge’s done. how many should i finish, is there an actual number? thanks for your time.

i read somewhere that as long as you have your pre-reqs done then you should be fine and that usc wants you to take ge’s at usc so that you’ll pay more…but i’m not sure since it’s not the case with davidlee0427

DUDE can someone answer my question pleaaaase

yeah, you can transfer within the university. with the amount of time left before the admissions letter, im pretty sure you could write/fax USC a letter or call them about changing your major to econ, but you better have a damn good reason why.

confused: yeah i remember we talked about that earlier so thats why it really confused me for davidlees situation…best of luck to all the applicants

fight_on1 // As long as you transfer in as a sophomore, USC will want to you to complete at least “part” of GE classes. I think they recommend to junior transfer student to complete 4-5 GE classes. Other GE classes have to be done within USC. What I did last year is I completed all the pre-requirement classes for Marshall, however, I did not complete any of USC GE classes by end of spring 06. My point is that completion with some GE classes and pre-requirement will have priorityto admission.

Also, USC has the largest no. of international students in USA. which means they have to submit high toefl score or take placement test for enlgish procifiency. I heard that USC put a lot of international student to take English as a second language classes for more tuition. Generally, Most of schools waive Toefl test if student completed lower divison english classes.

confused_junior // so your theory might be right. But, incomplete with all the GE classes are way too much out. Because every school have a minimum graduation credit, you need to show them preparation to USC. (some of them have to be upper division classes. )

For my case, I completed 51 semester credit with pre-requirement done, but not GEs.
In addition, I will tell you my secret. (I applied to USC at end of the last April, sent all the requirement to them at end of the last May. - SHAME)

I guess this was the main reason I was rejected.

zemook: I heard that if you want to transfer into Marshall as a USC student you have to wait one semester and then Marshall has to accept you.

this doesnt pertain to usc at all, but what is the national deans list and is it even important.

circa, you’re sayin’ that rule would be applicable for junior transfer too?

Yeah I would assume it would apply to junior transfers as well. I asked some counselor or rep from Marshall a couple months ago for myself (I’m a soph transfer) and she said that was the process. I’m pretty sure it would apply for junior transfers as well.

what I heard is if you obtain 3.00 above from first semester, u can apply to marshall.

but is it possible to switch majors this late in the game yes/no
