well i know this is a vague question, but as most ppl got from marshall school of business, i got spring request grades from sc about 2 weeks ago, i currently have all A’s in marshalls pre reqs, my cumulative GPA is 3.94, im at a community college now btw. if i get a B in calculus this semester and a B in another class that usc doesnt even ask about, my GPA will go down to a 3.81, you guys think that will make my chances of getting in lower?

simple answer is no

what do u you guys think should be the main topic in my appeal letter to UCLA, i believe i got rejected because i applied to business economics major, although having a 3.94 GPA, i had not taken calculus I and II yet.

you should have taken at least calc 1

hotpapa- UCLA appeal? this is a USC thread

lol hahaha omg even i didnt realize that

Doryx- Tried that already, lol. I’ve tried every comination of days that were important to me and a combo of those days as well.

I’ve been trying to deal with a probable rejection the last few days so that when it probably comes at the end of this week, I won’t be a dissapointed and won’t **** with me during finals week.

Does anyone know if SC reviews your application before they send out a spring grade request? Or do they just send letters out to all sophomore transfers?

i’m pretty sure your application is reviewed first. a vast major of applicants receive spring grade requests. this works the same with nyu.

How much does that fact that I’m a legacy count, and how do you suppose that is factored into admission?

According to most people, being a legacy counts a lot, but it seems the school itself wants to distance itself from legacy admission.

I’ve received a grade request-- I’m a legacy applying as a sophomore. I have a 3.6 coming from community college and I’ve applied for international relations as my major. Also, I’m half hispanic, if that means anything.

;asdlfkaj;dlkjdfasdf What do you all think?

It’s not a HUGE FACTOR. It sorta pushes you over the edge if you are borderline. If two people had 3.6, they obviously would pick the one with the legacy.

It will not compensate for a low GPA applicant, like a 3.2 or something.

goldenjet- I read through last years june and july posts. How will/did your gpa come out this time? I am totally rooting for you. Hope that spring grade request and/or accept comes to you soon.
On another note, should we start a who’s left list?

We are all rooting for you goldenjet. I read through your post 6 months ago when I was applying.

for people who havent received either a acceptance, spring request or even rejection?

Yes, all, even those transfers still on here that have been accepted. Last year a master list was kept by technics256. Some even ‘died by the sword’…
Golden, will you manage the list?

mmck- my grades turned out all right in the fall. I re took bio, a class that I got a D in last spring and got a B in it this time around, but I also got a B in a Philosophy class that I had an A in for most of the semester, but I got a little lazy towards the end. That brings my overall bio grade to a C, which sucks, but it’s the only grade I have below a B with 65 or 67 credits (seriously, i forget how many I have, lol.) my overall GPA is a 3.6 and I’m really hoping for a spring grade request since I’m holding a 4.0 this semester while taking classes that I find less than interesting which to me is very satisfying, especially since i got off to a terrible start this spring.

As for the master list, of course i’ll put it together.

What’s the address we final transcripts to for the full transfer credit report? just the office of admissions?

How do they calculate GPA for incoming transfers? Do they only use your pre-USC GPA as a reference number, or is it actually turned into your USC GPA? I have finals and midterms coming up and I need to know if getting that “A” will be worth it, if getting a “B” will do the exact same thing for me. I am admitted, so my application is no longer under review.

Check out this USC website on the subject:

http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/admission/transfer/credit/#det

But it’s still a bit unclear, so if there are any USC students on here who transferred in, maybe they can clarify this policy.
