USC transfers.

so yes, ‘i absolutely have to’

hobo, will they rescind admission at ucsd if you don’t take the classes

no, but i might graduate later if i don’t take them.

grrr… another reason why i want USC.

You guys should both call USC and explain what’s going on and ask if there’s anyway you can get a decision based on the information they already have (and the spring grades you’ve received so far) and tell them you really want to go but you have another bill that has to paid. Maybe they’ll do something, I mean they say if they don’t get your spring grades by June 30th they’ll make a decision without them so maybe they can just make a decision without them now… good luck…

Kaitylin- I tried something similar when i called a few weeks ago (ok i lied a little bit but i just wanted to see the adrep’s reaction) and she told me that if she had a decision, she would have given it to me over the phone!

BTW, how was orientation?

i couldn’t decide whether to buy 400w or 800w speaker system for my comp for dorm parties in preparation for usc. i got frustrated so i just bought a 1200w amp bose system with 5 speakers and a subwoofer. now all i g2 do is get into usc.

Orientation was great!!! I got my USC student ID card =)

SexMachine- Bose speakers are no ****ing joke man!

Kaitylin- Glad to hear you enjoyed Orientation! How long was the whole thing? I heard it was only like a day long and I was a bit dissapointed by that. If I get in, I’ll be flying in all the way from Jersey, kinda beat for a one day thing

Also, did you find out if we’d be able to take screenwriting classes right away?

OH S*** i got my grade back for accounting … B- i don’t want to send in my grades :frowning: every other grade is still pending.

Hobo, as long as a B- is your lowest grade then you have nothing to worry about unless accounting is the major you applied for.

BTW, have you been able to log on to your sig account?

yeah i can log into sig… i really don’t want to send in my grades…

ugh… so disappointed in this quarter.

Alright guys, I wanted to know if you could help me out here. I’ll be a freshman at the University of Connecticut in the fall. I’m very interested in applying to USC as a transfer student. However, I’m extremely confused about this whole process.
These are the classes I’ll be taking for the Fall and Spring of this upcoming year:

FALL

English 110
Calc for business/economics
Essentials of economics
Intermediate Hebrew I
Intro to international relations (poly sci)

SPRING

Intermediate Hebrew II
Macroeconomics
Microeconomics
SOCI 107 (intro to SOCI)
Statistics 100

Residency: New Haven, Connecticut (I’m guessing that applying from a non-UC/CSU or a non- Cali CC will help? It seems like EVERYONE is from one of the 3)
HS: 3.1 GPA (****ed up fr and soph year, but jr+sr are nearly straight A’s). SAT’s considerably lower than the USC average.
Tons of excellent EC’s, and some good recs.
EFC: Around 10K
Intended Major(s): 1st choice- Economics, 2nd choice- Accounting

Am I on track to taking the correct courses? I’m guessing HELL no, so I wanted to know if you guys could provide me with a page that shows what classes I should take. I can easily switch around my schedule, so that’s not the problem.

Like I said before, I’m really really lost with this whole process. USC’s site isn’t as easy to navigate as UConn’s, so I’ve been struggling.

Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated. THANKS!!

my advice? Work your mother ****ing ass off :p

go here for the GE check list http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/docs/admission/transfer_planning_worksheet.pdf

I know Econ has it’s own pre req’s as does the school of accounting so I hope your lazy ass finds them!

haha just kidding, heres the site with all the additional course work you’ll need for your majors http://www.usc.edu/admission/undergraduate/private/docs/admission/additional_course_requirements.pdf

be careful with pre reqs though, SC is really strict with them. What I’d do if I were you is go to the USC articulation site (dont worry kid, heres the link Error) and I’d browse through the california community colleges and see what courses satisfy agreements (Saddleback is a good CC to look through). Then i’d search for the California community college’s website you chose on the articulation agreement so you can match up the class codes with the actual classes and then look through the classes that UConn offers and try to match them up- thats how I did it.

I hope this made sense man, Good luck!

Thanks a TON goldenjet. I’m going to look over all the stuff later tonight when I get home.

Does anyone know what a " required 3rd semester foreign language" means? Do they mean 2 years of HS + 1 semester in college? or 3 semesters in college?

Three college semesters unless you took an AP language in HS. Im pretty sure you might be able to place out of a language (thats what I plan to do if I transfer to SC)

Wow, 2 college semesters? what a *****. So I guess that means I would do 2 during my freshman year and then they would allow me to complete my 3rd once I get to USC?

And is there a USC site that has course descriptions for each class? That could help me out with filling the general requirements.

WOOOO! I got my first grade today. It’s a B+ in mechanical engineering - my hardest class! (I’m an EE major and hate ME) and I have fulfilled all the pre reqs for transferring!

I called the transfer adcom for Viterbi last week, and she said “As long as you get B’s or better this quarter, you are into USC.” And the rest of my classes are A’s! YES!!! YES YES YES YES YES!

King James- The articluation method is how I did it. But since you asked… http://www.usc.edu/dept/publications/cat2005/

I haven;t looked through it, but i imagine that they have everything you’re looking for there

Technics- good *ing * man! I think I may have been accepted as well (found a passport varification document in my SIG- one of my essays was about leaving the country)

sweet goldenjet!! CONGRATS! are you an international student?

golden-

would you only have to have taken the AP class, or taken the AP test and passed with a 5 or 6 to get the foreign language credit? Everyone that takes the class doesn’t take the test…or pass it with a 5 or 6.
