USC transfers.

i’m thinking about calling my regional rep. and asking her if i should bother paying 10 dollars to get my current school to mail my official transcripts to USC.

what do u guys think? should i try?

wannabe -

before we submitted the fasfa, we talked to USC about the unsecured stafford loan, and they said it was available to anyone, but the fasfa had to be submitted to be eligible. I explained my situation, and they reassured me that it would in no way affect my admission decision. I also explained my situation to the counselor and she confirmed that.

But i have received no e-mails from fin aid! Maybe it’s because they don’t need anymore documentation?

collegegirl youre in if he was nice about it and stuff. dont worry about the email though because my reg counselor said a decision was made around noon yesterday and i received the email today (a day later).

hobo, how do you have so many posts dude. its like well over 1000.

Hobo -
my situation is complicated, especially for USC, that’s why they have taken so long. I have a small business that is centered in LA, and I travel there alot. My friends call me California girl. I love LA and USC is my dream school, I don’t know how to explain it - it just fits.

it’s because i’m a post whore and i go on during work.

wow, you own a business, nice!

i see no reason for them to reject you.

Well, NYU accepted me in April - guess they thought I might do good in New York, but I’d have to start over meeting people and making connections (with introductions from my LA contacts)…

USC is taking longer (obviously), so I don’t think they want me as much…but that’s okay…I’ll take a spring admit! I love LA & USC!

interesting… waht kind of business is it if you don’t mind me asking.

I don’t mind you asking, but until I know the USC decision, I don’t want go into alot of detail. I’ll tell more later.

cooblue,

I think if you were going to be rejected, he wouldn’t have told you to bother sending in your official transcript.

collegegirl, it looks like you are in…but with USC, you never know.

but IF you do get in…and to everyone…

submit your housing app RIGHT AWAY!
I called housing yesterday to call about the status of my housing arrangment and the lady said “it’s good you turned in your app right away, because spots are running low.” So as soon as you guys find out, even if its over the phone, fill out and send those docs ASAP, via overnight mail (i would!)

and collegegirl, fin aid and applications are handled totally differently, so if you dont hear from fin aid dont even stress about it. i never heard from them once.

but good luck to everyone - if you guys get in get to orientation this friday asap!

I wonder what the deal is with not telling over the phone until the decision has been mailed?

Tech - what about reinvention?

the decision can change - but when it’s mailed, it’s finalized.

wasnt he rejected or something?

Collegegirl, when I was at Orientation they were going over their privacy act and seemed to be very serious about it. They let parents know that they wouldn’t release any info about the student unless the student states they can. They said due to the nature of that act that they could give no info over the phone… grades, health history, etc… because it was impossible to confirm identity. Thus, all inquiries would also have to be made via OASIS or in paper. My take on all this? I think something happened and they got in a bit of legal trouble over this in the past… therefor, the no info over the phone policy. That’s, of course, speculation, but when most universities have some sort of notification system online or etc… it makes some sense, I guess.

Thanks mrpuppy! You’re here too! I always have to ask about your friend…not that it matters anymore (and never really did)…but just to gather info.

tech - I don’t think reinvention was rejected, but he hasn’t been on for a few days now. Maybe he’s MIA also.

i dont think the email requesting for additional financial aid documents means anything because i got that email over 2 weeks ago and faxed the stuff the same day and they recieved it and i still dont have a decision yet so im pretty sure that financial aid and admissions work independently of one another

rad, did you call today? Has a decision been made? I can’t imagine them waiting much longer!

tech - this is rad; rad - tech is the uscwannabe club secretary…

ugh… i got my hopes up for a second there. I don’t understand why financial aid wants all the documents before acceptance - i mean why waste our time if we’re gonna get rejected?

they get pleasure out of it

hobo, did you call today? They will tell you if a decision has been made…then you can at least try to get a hint of what it might be…
