usc transfers

this isn't the first time it's been asked, but does anyone have an update on when to expect acceptance/rejection letters? the wait is murder. do different schools have different dates, because i've heard one or two on here have already gotten in.

also, anyone majoring in music industry? im not too sure how impacted the major is. what do you think the average gpa of someone accepted for that major will be?

I'm actually a bit embarrassed to say that I applied as a transfer to the Music Industry major with a 3.3.

The reason I said I'm embarrassed is because I when I went to Transfer Day, I spoke with someone from the Music Industry department and they said that this major is very hard to get into since so many people apply for it and that the average GPA for transfers that actually do get into USC with this major falls between 3.6-3.7.

I'm sure you'll get in as long as you have a 3.6+. As for me, I don't even know why I applied with a 3.3 . . . I'm already waiting for my rejection letter lol.

You will find out earlier of you are had over thirty units when you applied. Probably mid to late May. If you are only a freshman (like me) you will find out in June. I got an e-mail from Admissions today because I had asked a question concerning what a competative applicant should have (in terms of GPA, units etc.). She said 3.5 would make you competative. She said a lot of applicants are thrown out because they don't fulfill the math and English requirements. You're right though, waiting is terrible.

Fight On!

yea, im at a 3.86 with 59 units completed. i dont know why, but i still dont think im gonna get in. im just really nervous cause its the only school i applyed to. if i dont get in i have to move back in with the parents...

i would hate to have to reaply for next semester. thanks for your help guys, i hope we all get in. fingers crossed

Guitarshark, I'm pretty sure you are in with that GPA!

hopefully, but this post on another forum is what sparked my doubt. check it out and let me know what you think.

;/a>

PS: (the one on the other forum who asked the question wasn't me, but oddly enough he was in almost the exact same position as me with almost identical stats)

they got over 6000 applications last year and admitted around 2000... i read somewhere that this year there were 8000 applications. any guesses as to how many they might take?

lace - probably about the same as last year.

where did you hear that there are 8000 applications this year?

Last year they got 8,000, but at a meeting I had with admissions, they said that they ended up rejecting almost half because those students didn't have enough units and/or didn't fulfill the Math and English requirements.

Fight On!

so if you met the requirements it was pretty much a 50% acceptance rate? not bad

That's exactly what I thought. When I heard it initially, I was a bit shocked. It's the world's best kept (although not for long) secret.
