USC, UCLA,or Berkley

I’m curious. The strongest suggestion I recieved was that my S should pick a school but retake the LSAT and if he significantly improves his score he should withdraw and reapply with improved stats next year. So I’m wondering has anyone had positive results with this strategy? By this I mean were they readmitted to a school that previously admitted them with more scholarship money or were they admitted to schools that previously rejected or WL’d them and earned scholarship money? This sounds good on paper but in practice has anyone actually seen this pan out? My S has already applied to every school he is interested in going to and has been accepted to some of his top choices so this really seems risky.
