USC, Uofm, and NYU

Hello all, I’m a Michigan resident and a high school senior. My father went to the University of Michigan, so I have legacy at Michigan. However, what are my chances for each school? I applied EA to UofM and will apply regular decision for NYU and USC and UofM if I get defeated. I know nothing is for sure, but here are my stats:

Weighted GPA: 3.87
Unweighted GPA: 3.78
SAT: 1300
ACT: 28

I have retaken both tests and will get my results soon, I’m feeling a 1400+ on the SAT and a 30+ on the ACT.

Classes:
Best classes my school could offer (public school by the way)…
English 9 & 10 Honors
AP Lang (4)
AP Gov (4)
AP Chem (3)

Senior Year classes:
AP Calc
AP Physics
AP Micro
AP Lit
Visual Basic (C++ coding)
Anatomy

ECs:

  • Key Club board member (4 years)
  • NHS member (two years)
  • Science Olympiad (2-3 years)
  • Soccer, both high school and club (all year long, 3 varsity letters) (4 years)
  • Link Crew/PRIDE (volunteering) (2 years)

Others:

  • Tried to start a company (didn’t include that)
  • Took two programs over the summer at the University of Michigan for C++ coding

I know it’s not great, but I’d take any recommendations to get into these colleges. I’ll update this when I get my other scores. Thank you

Two things:

  1. Your chances increase a lot if you can get to the 1400+ SAT range.

  2. What do you mean by “Visual Basic (C++ coding)” - Visual Basic and C++ are two different languages. Do you mean the Visual C++ IDE? It would be odd to classify a course by IDE, if so (unless it is an advanced IDE class).

Hey, my school calls the class “Visual Basic”. I don’t know what it means, but all we do is learn C++, I’ve gotten pretty good with it

Have you tried to apply the C++ you learned in your Visual Basic to a project/in competition or something?

you have about the same test scores and grades as I do and I’m applying ED to Tisch so a few differences. If you get any information let me know.
