USC Will Help Host the Special Olympics World Summer Games

In 2015 the Special Olympics World Summer Games will be held in Los Angeles. The USC campus and Exposition Park will be the site of the Olympic Village and sports venues.

About 7000 athletes are expected to compete in the summer games. This is the first time the Special Olympics (summer) has been held in the United States since 1999.

More information about the event can be found on the USC website: [University of Southern California](http://www.usc.edu) .

Correction/update:

UCLA and USC will actually cohost the summer games with UCLA hosting and housing a majority of the athletes and events.

[UCLA to co-host 2015 Special Olympics / UCLA Newsroom](Newsroom | UCLA)

I guess the 5 sports hosted by UCLA will collectively have more events (and participating athletes) than the remaining 17 sports.

Anyone know when the schedules will be finalized?

As much as downtown improved in the past decade or so, it’ll be even nicer by 2015. The 2015 games will be a great showcase for how far downtown has come.
