USD vs GWU for Business (CMU waitlist)

Hello! I’m currently trying to decide between the University of San Diego or George Washington University for Business, hopefully in Finance and with some International emphasis. However, I am currently on the Carnegie Mellon University waitlist, and will most likely choose to attend there if accepted. Seeing as I still need to commit to a school in order to have a home for the next for years in the wake of probably not getting off the waitlist, I’d appreciate any help!

It would be nice to make it to Wall Street, but as of right now I’m interested in more Corporate Finance and Intelligence Analysis than IB, although this may change depending on the opportunities I can find at the school I attend.

I already live on the West Coast, so USD is closer to home, but I know that GWU is better placed for internships. They are ranked ten spots apart on US News for Business, but Poets and Quants for undergrad has USD ranked in the 40s to GWU‘s 85. Outcomes seem to be roughly the same, just West vs East Coast in a nutshell.

Cost isn’t a factor but my scholarship for GWU is slightly higher, and I was accepted to the Woman’s Leadership Program there. However, USD has more of a traditional campus, and I have family nearby.
Any thoughts? Thank you!

Forget cmu. Get it out of mind. Especially for corp finance. You don’t need it for that. And as you said u r WL and a WL is a rejection but hedge for them. Two years ago, as an example, more than 25% of applicants were offered a WL spot. Of those who accepted it, 8% got in. So it’s good you are planning for without. That’s in the common data set section c2 but not for the most recent year.

Assuming both are affordable one should speak to you. One has a campus. With dining halls. The other doesn’t although allegedly will open dining halls this Fall. One is religious. One isn’t.

I would not worry about locations. Good colleges will give you access to summer internships or many find on their own today. How my son did. . Most will not be local.

From those two schools find the best fit for u.

Good luck.
