Looks like the USDOJ didn’t have much of a choice; the facts as we know them didn’t offer a substantial case for a successful prosecution. The Martin case and Zimmerman’s subsequent troubles proves that he is a jerk who set in motion an unnecessary shooting. We need to now ask ourselves to what degree must we be in fear in order to have justification to use deadly force. It’s been said and studied over and over again; Zimmerman found himself getting a butt whupin from a neighbor kid, Trayvon Martin. It seems that if the positions were reversed, Martin would have been justified in killing Zimmerman. Do we want to continue to justify deadly force in similar situations?
