So I don’t like to go by my legal name so for things like my school band program, all region and all state band, youth ensembles, congressional youth advisory council, I’m listed as my preferred name. Throughout my childhood, no one could pronounce my name so I’ve been going as something else for pretty my entire life.
The thing is, if admission counselors decide to check up on those, will they ask for my legal name? Because I’m fairly sure I didn’t mention my legal name when I was auditioning or applying to any of those. For all the band related things, my band director can definitely clear things up but what if they don’t contact him directly and instead contact the organizations?
