I did somewhat better on my ACT (34) than my SAT 1 (2200) comparatively. I’m applying for pretty competitive schools and I thought the ACT score might make up for the weaker SAT. Regardless, I sent both, but is ACT seen as kind of a backup/easier alternative at prestigious places? I’m talking ivies and such.

No, that’s a misconception. The ACT is being more and more well regarded in recent years. There’s no bias against it, and few people will tell you it’s ‘easy’ to get a 34 and above. I submitted both my SAT and ACT scores, too :)

i got into cornell with my ACT. it really doesnt matter

No, they all treat them equally now, so it doesn’t matter.
