Does anyone know if The NYLC, National Youth Leadership Conference , is good to put on a upenn resume?? Does it show involvement/national recognition??

…Sort of.

Although it can only help you, it’s fairly easy to get in. It really depends on what yours was about.

What do u mean “what yours was about”?

um…isn’t it kinda late to revise apps?

i’m only a junior, but getting started at college

sad…

why is that sad?

so, does anyone know if National Youth Leadership Conference is good for a resume? or is it “too easy/worthless”

put it on…but dont think it will help you

i haven’t gone to it yet…should i pay $2000 and go to it is what i’m asking haha sry?

umm i heard its fun but u dont really do anything. i heard its not worth the 2000 dollars nor is it really respected. i wouldnt waste my time

i think its great ur getting started early, a lotta people do. good luck =D

thanks

i think i’m too late tho

I went on the NYLF trip and it was one of best trips i ever had. No, it will probably not do anything for your app, but you’ll have a great time.

go to nicaragua and build a school for kids in a rural area who currently cannot get an education instead. that’s what i’m doing.

r u serious??
how do u build a school in a rural area??

or u can do precollege at penn. and fulfill general requirements. so when ure frosh ure not stuck in ridiculous lecture hall classes with 100+ kids (well no that will still happen… but u will have an awesome time at penn regardless)

oh, i live in missouri.

can penn still accept precollege courses??..for me i mean

Canadia thats crazy! Ur going to Nicaragua to build a school? IM DOING THE SAME THING. EXCEPT IM BUILDING A SCHOOL IN MALI!!! Its through a club called building with books? Are part of that or something else?

OMG ARE YOU SERIOUS??? I’m in BwB, too! For our area, we went to Mali last winter in late '03-early '04 and Nicaragua is in the summer this year from the end of June of the beginning of July. I applied to Mali last year but I was rejecteddddd (although I think I know why; when I looked over my app from last year a few days ago, I realized that I completely skipped the big essay b/c I didn’t see it… oops). I really want to go to Nicaragua this summer. Mali sounded like so much fun when trekkies from my school came back to talk about it. AHHHH what a coincidence! What area are you in?

Im from Andover in Michigan
