My twin brother has a 1600/2400 and a 3.0 gpa. He’s been involved in our school’s jazz band as first chair for four years, wind ensemble first chair for two years, and symphonic band first year for the two years before that. He’s been in both All-County Jazz and Concert Band for the past four years as second chair. He has 150 hours of community service, one AP class and a lot of honors classes. I think he has two recommendation letters and qualifies for 2 or 3 of USF’s academic success factors. Should “he seek admission through USFs Summer Success Programs or to another USF System institution² for consideration.”?

He may be able to slide in for summer admission. He’s in the yellow for summer admission. “Admit with five or more Academic Success Factors. Otherwise, with three to four ASFs, applicant will be deferred for first semester senior grades and/or new test scores. With fewer than three ASFs, refer to Summer Success Programs or another USF System institution1 for consideration.”

Should he reapply for summer? Or would an email notifying them that he’d like to be considered for summer admissions be fine? Because he’s already submitted his application, but hasn’t paid the fee, so we could do it over for Summer. Also: alternate USF campuses?

Sorry for dumping all these questions on you (guys–because open to all options and all). It’s just that he’s my twin and I’m about twice as anxious for him as I am for myself. Not because I don’t think he’ll get go to college or that I have such an amazing chance myself, though, you know? And I think I’m on a sugar rush or something. X)

Maybe also apply for one of USF’s other campuses? My cousin, who went to USF Tampa for undergrad and just completed a master’s at USF Sarasota, says that he thinks that campus is actually BETTER than the Tampa campus because they have much smaller classes. They just recently opened it up to freshmen.

Did he just apply recently?

Yeah, he hasn’t even paid the fee yet. I’ll ask my parents if I can apply to Sarasota then. That might be a good idea.
