The pass at my school got sold out. I thought I did not need it so did not buy it. I preferred to drive to class which is 15 minutes away. However, the library is 6 minutes from me. I should have gotten closer parking to campus. I don’t know why but I tend to make bad decisions when it concerns major things. I can use the meters now but that is just so annoying to do. My medical reason is anxiety and it got approved. I have anxiety because I am parking so far away from everything that it is stressing me out. I know that people usually get these permits because they have a medical problem. But I have have a medical problem because of this parking situation. It’s confusing but what should i do
Have your medical professional supply a note attesting to your condition. Maybe that can solve your problem.
I am sure any good doctor would be willing to write a medical excuse that you can use to rectify this awful, awful situation.
@jf89fan Based on what you’ve written, this post seems quite silly to me.
You can’t afford to leave your house/dorm/apartment 6 minutes earlier to make it on time?
You won’t be eligible for a handicapped license plate or disabled placard unless you are also physically disabled.
And those evil parking meters! Unless you go to college in Boston or midtown Manhattan or a similar metropolis, you have no excuse when you say the parking meters are annoying. Am I missing something here?
Seriously? 6 minutes is not a long walk on a college campus, and 15 minutes is less than I had to walk to kindergarten. There are people who are physically incapable of doing those walks, and I think it’s disrespectful for you to try to get in on their parking privileges. Walking might help with your anxiety. Try it.
The people here are getting a bit snarky because they can’t imagine how a parking situation can contribute to anxiety. The reality is, when you have a mental illness, anything can honestly seem like a genuine crisis – it doesn’t have to make sense to the rest of the world.
Taking a step back, however, what’s the worst thing that happens if you don’t get a closer pass? You leave a few minutes earlier? You can survive this. It’s temporary, and you learn from it, and next time you get your application in on time.
To the other posters, it doesn’t necessarily sound as if the OP is getting a handicapped sticker – it sounds as if the school reserves a few generic parking permits for special circumstances, and this might be one of them. You know, the way hotels say they are totally booked and then they find a room.
^ If the OP has a mental illness, there should be more serious problems he should be worrying about besides getting slightly closer parking. Of course, I can see how lack of close parking could potentially contribute to something more major (e.g. unable to find a close spot, late for an exam, etc.). In this case, simply leave the house earlier.
I still don’t know if this is a serious thread. When (and if!) the OP responds, I guess I’ll find out.
