<p>For the one with the DBQ-like format can we use first person? I am aware that we are encouraged to use first person for the argumentative but I’m not sure about the synthesis essay.</p>
<p>Sure, it is perfectly acceptable. I find that the biggest problem people have with synthesis is getting carried away with the argument within the sources and actually have them detract from the writer’s own argument. Using first person pronouns can sometimes help make sure people are centering paper on a student’s own ideas.</p>
