Using the "and" sign on essays?

<p>When I write, I usually use a + in place of writing “and”. I was told not to do this on my ap English language test obviously, but it wouldn’t affect me on tests other than English ones right? I know I did it on my apush test last year and got a 5, and I did it on my euro test this year as well.</p>

<p>I mean, the English tests are the only ones grading you on your grammar and spelling, so I would assume it wouldn’t affect other tests?</p>

<p>If you must use a symbol, use & instead…</p>

<p>^^^ what he said, otherwise, the symbol i use is basically a 3 with a vertical line through it.</p>
