Hoping to also get NROTC Scholarship if I don’t get into USNA

The USNA is a reach for everybody. Same for you, but you’d be competitive.

If you are not a California resident the chances of getting into Berkeley and UCLA are slim.

Cornell is definitely a major reach. CMU is less of a reach but still a reach.

Michigan and Penn State are probably a match, or perhaps low reach.

Ohio State is very close to being a safety for you.

A good cross section of schools. Excellent list.

I would say that you have an excellent chance at a NROTC scholarship. I recommend NOT putting any reach schools on your list of 5 universities to be submitted to the Navy. This is because the Navy assigns you to the college, and you do not want to be in the position of having the Navy assign you to, say, Cornell and then you do not get admitted to Cornell. You would then have to re-enter the assignment pool, perhaps near the bottom of the pool.

For NROTC schools, I can recommend these as well:
- Purdue
- Tulane
- University of Rochester

You might seriously consider Georgia Tech for NROTC. But be careful, it is a bit of a reach. Wait until you take the ACT. Recommend also re-taking the SAT. Many people do better the second time around.

Good Luck.

Where is your home state? UMich CoE would be a high reach for you as OOS with SAT significantly below 25th percentile. The admission rate there was 20% for 2014. your Math score may be the major weakness for top engineering schools. It does not match up the award you received at school.

Are the sports you are in Varsity/ do you have any others? Also have you taken the CFA yet?
