Usnews student profiles

Sumner Academy of Arts and Science in Kansas City is a magnet school for grades 8-12. Ranked one of America’s Best High Schools by U.S. News, it is ethnically diverse, and some 92 percent of students participate in the school’s AP or IB programs. We asked eight Sumner seniors to talk about applying for college.

Interesting new approach to student profiles from US NEWS. I see a lot of packed political statements stealthily inserted in the choice of schools and profiles. African-American Mormon going to WUSTL with a 26 ACT who had also entertained thoughts of the big H? An undocumented student (I’m only venturing a guess here)? Latino male with a 22 ACT going to Kansas but harbors dreams of transferring to Harvard, NYU, UT-Austin (at least he knows he has to retake to have a shot…)? African-American female with a 28 ACT and a 3.3 GPA admitted to 21!!! schools including Vandy (with full schoarlship)?

No Asians?

They picked out a magnet school in flyover country (perhaps with the intention of diverting accusations of elite coast bias?) and somehow managed to profile a bunch of Hispanics and African-Americans. Two white people, lots of NAMs, and no Asians. Affirmative action in action. Coming demographic shifts in action. Somehow I think middle America is not going to be too happy with this.

^^^^^ i always say WUSTL is horribly overrated. a guy at my school got in with similar stats. absolute madness.
