UT Austin 2011/12 Transfer Guide

I just called international admission, and they said"we’re hoping by the end of the month".

@popparna hahah that’s exactly what I’ve been doing too. I don’t think I’ve been this obsessive about something in my life! I hope we all hear good news from communications this week.

@ProfMe, are you an international applicant? Where are you from?

Are there any former business transfers on this thread? What are the chances of a internal transfer prospect with a gpa of 3.6+?

@goodjoblyn, yes I’m, and I’m from the middle east

Just got my fin aid offer, lets just say I cant complain! :D

I’m so happy for yall! Congratulations to those that made it! I applied for CNS and I’m waiting for my decision also. My heart skips a beat when I check my status haha. I’m keeping my fingers cross for some good news. I’ll update y’all either way when I hear back.

@ProfMe, Cool! Are you studying int he US now? I applied McComb. I am so nervous since the competition between international students is even serious.

@robertrulez, Wow Congratulations. When did you know the result? It is so early. I am jealous.

@goodjoblyn
I also applied McComb. However, I have one indicator course still in progress. I guess that would delay my admission decision. But I hope it comes early.

@goodjoblyn,yup I’m studying in the U.S.but I applied to Cockrell and the competition is serious indeed … I learned that they accepted just five international students to the ChemE department last fall

@ProfMe, WOW!!Cool!!! Congratulations again. I am now also studying in the US. Did you apply other universities?

@NOCHICKY,

Me Too!! I am taking Calulus II now!! I am an international student now in the US. I think the accept rate for International student is even lower. :( I check my status almost every 3-4 hours… Did you send any documents to prove that you are taking an indicator course now? I learned that they would make all decisions this month.

I’m still waiting… they didn’t release the decisions yet

I’m currently a freshman at Austin Community College and I have a 3.5 gpa as of right now but at the end of this year, I’ll have a 3.6 gpa. I applied for Liberal Arts. I’m also a member of Phi Theta Kappa. I’ll have 34 transferable hours by the end of this year and I have plenty of extra curricular activities and my resume was decent. I sent in 2 letters of recommendations. The only thing I’m worried about is my essays. I tried really hard on them but I don’t think I tried enough. What are the chances of me getting in?

Your stats look just fine. Do you think you did do good enough on your essays to have the admissions committee accept you? In other words… I THINK as long as you got your point across, you’ll be good. :)

^ I think you’re in. Not to jinx you or anything…but I read in previous posts that a 3.5+ GPA for COLA is pretty much “automatic admission.” Regardless, good luck!

Also, @robertrulez…have you received your acceptance letter in the mail yet?

@stanfordlvr_2011 - I heard that too but I’ve still been freaking out even with a 3.68 GPA! I put down Liberal Arts for my second choice and Comm for first. On another thread, someone linked me to this site and the section where it lists applicants/admitted students column under “Read more about how GPA affects admission” is what started planting doubts in my mind.

http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/counselors/jcc/transfer-times/spring2011#

But maybe this will help someone else out with questions about statistics so I reposted it anyway.

Oh cool I’ve never seen this before. Glad I didn’t–probably would have been the root to my insanity.

I am taking Cal 2 now and this is shown on my transcript which I sent to UT in February. On my Status page, it says that they are waiting for my spring’s transcript and then make decision. I guess it would be in mid May.
Yes, I heard that the admission for International students are even more competitive. I believe the order is (difficulty increasing): internal --external in state–external our of state–international.
