I have two classes that I got B’s in and the rest are A’s. I have about 40 hours but when I called UT they said the two classes with B’s don’t transfer in as anything so they won’t count and that would mean I have a 4.0 GPA. But I’m just not sure if they will count my B’s as credits towards anything like will they see my credits as 40 or below?
@impossiblethings they will look at your overall gpa (including Bs), but when the evaluate you, they will look at courses relevant to your intended major. if you get in, those credits won’t count toward anything.
a lot of my core is done according to UT’s CS degree plan (and some more that I can apply if admitted), but most of it is ap, including calc 1 and calc 2. they don’t see my ap score, nor do they see my high school grade in calculus. does anyone know how ap credit is evaluated, in terms of major related coursework?
Waiting for psychology
@ZiuallahK if your ap’s are on your transcript they would have been translated into what classes you got credit for (I.e. calc 1 and 2) according to their own class catalog. UT will then use those class numbers to see what you have been credited for on their system. They do not see (nor will they look at) your AP scores until after you get accepted.
My daughters transcript only said 26 credits (not specific classes) so her university sent an additional official document labeling what she got credited for as well as her ap score for her file whenever her file is reviewed. But because of this, her file won’t be able to be viewed until spring grades
hmm… I have 15 hours of college classes and 9 hours of AP credits. My app is in review and the admissions officer i confirmed this…so my ap credits were accepted. what do you mean?
@tigger68 @spicytamale what i mean to say is, people who have actually taken the course in college have a letter grade by their courses. for example, calc 1 = a-, calc 2 = a. I don’t have that, it’s just credit. So when the website mentions academic performance in major related coursework, they wouldn’t have a grade to evaluate me or compare to other applicants.
Don’t worry. They said that having AP credits doesn’t look bad. They literally said they would review someone who has thirty hours including their APs the same as someone with thirty hours with no APs.
you mean 24 hours? it changed
Hi! I’m a freshman trying to transfer from OU to Texas. My first choice is Advertising in Moody (which is my current major at OU) and second choice is Urban Studies in COLA. My current GPA is a 3.59 with dual credit in play, after this semester I will have 36 hours. I have 1 LOR, a lot of community involvement and in my opinion strong essays. Can someone tell me what they think my chances are? I still have to submit my final transcript until my application is reviewed.
I think you will be fine, as long as your essay shows real interest in your major, also my twin sister is a freshmen at OU and she loves it there! @outransfer33
@outransfer33 They might reject you just for coming from OU.
(kidding ofc)
LOL @Chipaton
I’m getting sooo anxious to find something out. If I don’t get accepted I’m just going somewhere random for a year until I can apply again, but I’m hoping since English is traditionally the easiest major to get into I won’t have to do that.
Who has heard from COLA?
I was afraid they will deny me if I have more than 60 hours. That’s why I’m only taking cal2 for spring. I still have Govt 2, and 2 other classes need to take before going to junior year. All the admission advisors kept telling me that I should not take more than 60. But turn out, many students got accepted even they have more than 60 wth
@harugaru I was in the same boat as you, right now I’ll be transferring with just over 60 credits if I’m accepted, but my academic advisor told me they accept up to 65 or 66 credits
Still waiting on Biology in CNS :’)
@letsbeyounmeut16 I just feel wasting of my time for only take one class this semester. I got 4.0 GPA so I’m not worry too much, but just the whole transfer thing with unclear information makes me tired.
So do yall want to make the transfer group me
and thank you @awesomesaucee for keeping the list up the next ut admits that proceed us will be thankful
@harugaru Are you going to a community college or a 4 year university right now? I have a buddy of mine who’s going to Community College and only taking three classes, but works almost full time.
