is there anyone who has received a decision?
@lucyelizabeth The last action this thread has seen was a few denials almost two weeks ago. The first small wave came out about 4 weeks ago. So no, we havenāt seen any decisions for a couple weeks now.
I called the Houston office today and they told me that decisions wonāt go out until mid-Juneā¦
Yeah I would not expect any earlier. The way they have treated us is pretty disgusting, but I guess thatās the attitude they have decided to adopt. Elite universities feel they have the right to treat students however they want.
If I donāt hear anything from UT by Friday, I would have to accept from other schools which in my case is Texas A&M because I really donāt want to get stuck with crappy everything and I want to start my process although Iām pretty late seeing as I got accepted since March. Iām just really tired of waiting. (Internally sobbing hard right now)
My friend said that we should go to the admissions office and start breaking things until they give us our decisions. Haha might not bode well for us, but might make us feel temporarily better.
There should be a state-wide standard so that you donāt have to go with a second choice unless you want to do so.
It is what it is lols
I have been following this thread for a long time without writing anything. Regardless of the fact that UT Austin is my safety school and Iāve already been accepted to Columbia and Penn, I do sincerely want these results to come out. I havenāt yet decided which school to go to. Even though Iām in to two of the Ivies I applied to so far, UT is still very much in the running. Unfortunately I am running out of time with the others by waiting on this one. Iām not to the point of ābreaking thingsā lol, but I do think that their decisions timeline is very late. For the record however, they are not alone in being this tardy, Brown will not let me know until June as well. I guess what I am saying is everybody be patient, and if you must commit somewhere else, then UT may be losing valuable people by taking their time.
BTW, I tried the audit thing and I do have all of my coursework listed. Did that mean anything?
May be a little late but, you should submit your spring transcripts if A) it makes ur gap higher or B) it has a prereq on it. Besides those too it doesnāt matter much.
Why would you wait to find out when you have two ivy league schools? That takes up the spot of someone who UT isnāt a safety school for⦠they donāt waitlist transfer students. Those spots go to any waitlisted freshman, I believe. And I donāt mean that in a mean way, Iām just not understanding the logic.
Also, I think the state of Texas should standardize dates of public schools⦠private universities are privately funded so it wouldnāt make sense to include them.
Kudos on getting into Columbia and Penn, if you donāt mind, could you share your stats and as for your audit, I think that means the class youāve already taken and will be taking once you get accepted. Thatās the best I could explain it, could be wrong but you could always call admissionsā¦
The cost of Columbia is ~$70,000.00 per annum for just tuition and fees. Even with the full GI Bill at my disposal AND Yellow Ribbon Program I am still about $30,000.00 short per year. On top of all of that, the cost of living ~$3,700.00 per month for a very small studio (which isnāt big enough because I have a wife and baby) are not affordable. Additionally, I own a house near Austin that I could live in. So, those reasons⦠UT would be fully financially covered for me if I didnāt make that clear.
That makes sense @VetScholar! I really didnāt mean anything by it, I was just like omg TWO ivy leagues! RUN! GO! haha, but I get it now!! School in general is soooo expensive, but yikes on that!
The main thing for those schools to be honest wasnāt how well you did (I was in an honors society at Penn State). What they cared about most was the ways in which you expressed yourself through the storytelling of your essays. I painted the arc of my life, including ups and downs, and described how those experiences provided me with unique perspectives that would be valuable to each institution. I expressed my desire to share my individual talents and life experiences with their diverse student bodies towards our mutual benefit. Lastly, I conveyed that while I would be value added to them, I needed their world-class faculties to really develop intellectually and use all that they provide towards the greater social good. Basically, I wrote from the heart and I wrote well. I honestly think that is really the main thing that their respective admissions officers truly put the most stock into. Beyond that, my recommenders were fantastic, and in the case of Penn, were both alumni which was additionally valuable I think.
Thats okay, I knew what you meant. Those schools are great and may be worth it after visiting next month, but UT is incredible too and worth it for many many reasons!
Iām a vet transferring OUT of an ivy. They are only really good for policy and research science. I donāt see the value if f youāre not in either of those.
@VetScholar That is weird, I already recieved acceptance from Brown and as far as I know everybody else recieved a decision
@sotexas99 I went in person to turn in my spring transcripts and theyāve been uploaded by My status still says āexcept the 24ā¦ā so youāre not the only one !!
