UT austin 2017/2018 Transfer Thread

I didn’t know that, thank you @hookmepls

is engineering the hardest major to transfer into?

@lucyelizabeth No, it’s business. McCombs admits only a very small number of transfer students with an average GPA of 3.98

Well does this mean I should just throw in the towel because I also have a 3.9 and trying to get into the engineering program

I really dont think we should be so quick to give up hope. They take into a lot of factors so its possible that theyll deny a 3.9 but accept a 3.4 because of something else besides GPA it all comes down to the individual. This wait has been killer but its almost up so hopefully a big wave will come Friday and next week. Yall got this! Best of luck to everyone!!!

For context, I got into McCombs with a 3.88461.
I’m sure it was my essays and EC’s they bumped me over the edge. My gpa was a bit lower than the average accepted applicant.

So don’t give up hope entirely :smiley:

@ahawila Where did you see that the average GPA for McCombs is 3.98? From what I’ve seen, the latest data that they’ve posted is a 3.92 average for the 2016 transfers.

I just saw this “profile of a successful CS transfer” (https://texadmissions.com/blog/profile-universityoftexas-computer-science-transfer). I suppose this is what they mean by having a holistic admit process.

Didn’t make me too hopeful I might make it as a CS major. This guy has really impressive EC’s!

hey guys I am asking for a friend do y’all thing a 3.8 would get into UT computer science, he has aced all the math and science classes just got a b and one c in English and a remedial chem class. But calc 1,2,3 aced and chem 1 and 2 aced and biology 1 aced.

At this point, I don’t think any of us know who will end up getting in. I would’ve assumed the 3.9 would get in, so I’m just not sure. :-/ I’m sorry. :frowning:

I keep refreshing Mystatus, this is so nerve wrecking

I really hope we get decisions today :frowning:

At this point, I am pretty sure my application will be in review for eternity. 8-}

Yea, you’d think they’d release decisions before their three day weekend.

Why would they do that when they could just torture us instead?

@Saba that’s funny!!

End for the week. Another week another hope

Called the office, I know it doesn’t really help. But I did find out that they apparently got a lot more transfer applicants than in previous years. (My guess is because the credit minimum went down) They also said more freshman accepted than usual as well. This sucks.

I know this is late but someone chance me please. ACC transfer, 3.5 GPA, 2 good LOR, 30 credit hours, 200+ community service hours, and multiple internships. Applied to College of Education (1st choice) applied learning ex bilingual generalist (2 choice) physical culture & sports management.
