UT austin 2017/2018 Transfer Thread

Can anyone maybe chance me?
In December I got my AA from a community college
Cumulative GPA is 3.43, I had an upward trend, my DC from high school is mostly the reason for the lower GPA.
Major: Sustainability Studies (COLA)
Volunteer hours: 400+, 350 from a camp counselor position at a zoo, several others are from volunteer work in Costa Rica
Essays I feel were pretty good
LOR’s from boss at the zoo and an english professor

Although your slightly below average for average gpa in cola I still give you a good shot because of your amazing ec’s and also that your major isn’t that competitive. @utarts

@utarts If your essays were good, lets say they included what you did in costa rica, then you have a good chance. You’re EC’s are extraordinary and the amount of volunteer hours is fantastic. With the small amount of info you’ve given I’d say they would look past your generally low gpa, but I can’t say for certain because UT is notorious for looking heavily at the overall GPA.

does a 4.0 guarantee admission into the COLA Govt?

@UThopeful2018 Pretty much! I wouldn’t worry too much if I were you

What about 3.94 for government? Do you think I will be guaranteed admission? I just want an answer!! :((

@colanxgirl … noooooooo (sarcastically). Unless your essays are straight garbage, then you should get in.

Yeah honestly Friday makes sense at this point and apperantly that info came from some source of authority.

@kingsirry what do u mean “a source of authority”

@Thompson2688 someone called and asked admissions

Checking by the stats last year. Yeah pretty much as long as you have over 24 hours!!

I already know I’m getting rejected but I already want to know it for sure before I get my hopes up.

@karlaawest What are your stats?

And for the “authority” I think we already decided that we’ve all gotten different answers (not trying to sound rude I just wanted to point this out, even though y’all could right).

does anyone know at what point admissions begin to look at appeals?

At this point I don’t think we can rely on anything. Phone calls or previous years. Someone guaranteed me I would hear back by Monday but that definitely didn’t happen.

Also was it only one person or several who said they received their acceptance? Could it be someone trolling since everyone is so anxious? Sorry if you’re the person and you’re legit. Just tossing out theories.

I think we all need to take deep breaths! It will happen and this waiting game will be a distant memory!

GPA 3.7, 48 credit hours well I have completed about 62 but UT only took in 48 so there’s that. My essays imo were mediocre but 4 of my professors read them and 2 UT alumni read them as well and said they were amazing. No LOR, and resume is pretty good. Btw I’m applying too CNS. The reason I say I might not get in is because even though my GPA at my current college is a 3.92 UT didn’t count some of my classes and it dropped it to a 3.7.

@OGmandyV it was 3 people, 2 accepted and 1 reject, and they were all from the Fine Arts school so I’m sure they are legit. But that’s the only school that has sent out decisions from what we can tell.

@karlawest, how do you find/ know the credits that UT considered and the revised GPA? Is there a place in the UT admissions Portal that we can check?

@karlawest you should be fine. For CNS ut looks at your math and science courses. Your cumulative gpa doesn’t matter it’s your stem class gpa.
