@saba I think it will come down to personal preference in this instance. I’ve seen people say UT is better, or UWM is better. I would try and make a chart of pros and cons of both schools, compare the costs, compare the LONG term befits (if you are perhaps pursuing grad school), and compare the connections you will make at those schools.
Here’s an example of a good family friend of ours,
He wanted to go to A&M, but also got into University of Illinois for engineering (which is regarded as one of the best in the country). He ended up going to A&M for his undergrad, but went to Illinois for his graduates degree. If you have a degree in engineering in Texas from Texas A&M, it looks really good and could probably get any job you wanted in the state. But sense he got his graduate at Illinois, his options were wide open, not just in Texas. I hope this makes sense and helps a little bit. Lastly, it is your decision, not anyone else’s. So try and think about it for a while and come back to it and decide.
One think people might have forgotten is that you can still apply for housing. You won’t be able to pick the housing yet, but it will show that you have submitted a housing application which means you’ll still have the opportunity to pick out a dorm.
Since McCombs is notoriously last to send out decisions, will they recalculate my GPA with my spring grades even if I submitted everything with 30+ hours and pre-req complete?
I just want to say thank you to all of you who’ve decided you can’t wait for UT… you’re opening up spots for those who are in it for the long haul! Enjoy your time at your new homes!
Mind adding me to the list?
Currently at ACC and will finish spring semester with 31 hours.
Cumulative GPA will be between a 3.61-3.71 depending on this semester
Major: Communication Studies- Human Relations
300+ volunteer hours and a lot of EC as well
Essays are decent
2 LOR’s
Hoping we all receive good news! Hang in there, decisions will come our way soon
@rowennguyen Yea I might go ahead and attend UT Dallas orientation so I can register for classes and just take the L on the deposit if I wind up getting into uT Austin
A&M won’t take 16 credits from ACC so I feel that my only option is UTD
@BluePinkerton it isn’t. I’m referring to people who have decided not to wait for UT to give an answer and have decided to go to another school. Of course, I’m assuming that they’ll contact UT and withdraw their application as that is what I would do so an offer can be made to a student who would take the spot.
