I attended a pretty good CC as a STEM student while working full time with a wife and three kids. STEM classes are generally some of the hardest classes you can take so I understand how difficult CC classes can get. At that time, I thought my classes were pretty difficult, and then I transferred and saw what real academic rigor looks like and the classes taught at the CC are not even comparable- at least not at top schools. I understand my tone can be perceived as mean or aggressive, and thats not my intent. I just believe the claim that a CC 4.0 trumps a 3.8 from a school like Rice is deeply misguided and should not be propagated.
