I’m deciding between doing the CAP program for UT Austin (freshman year at a UT branch campus, get a 3.2 GPA, auto admit to UT Austin for sophomore year), or going to Texas A&M College Station, or Penn State Uni Park, or Northeastern. I plan to major in Computer Science. I am in-state for the Texas schools, no financial aid has been offered, and I have no chance for need-based aid. Another factor that I’m weighing is the fact that I receive the difference of 50k minus tuition each year from my father, so it is in my own financial interest to attend cheaper schools. I’m leaning towards UT CAP, but I don’t know if it’s worth it if I’m going to be attending a tier 4 branch campus for a whole year. Any thoughts? Would that look bad on a transcript when I apply for grad school?
