I wonder if they sent the Moody Honors email to everyone- my daughter got it as well… although it doesn’t seem like they’d want extra applications to go through…??
i think for the super competitive majors like business, engineering, comp sci they only consider u if u put them as first choice. that’s why plan 2 suggests putting them as second
How many RD students received acceptance so far? Are there any spaces left for RD?
@txmom9977 I would think many received it, but have to agree, why send it to those who wouldn’t be a match for Moody and be deemed an honors candidate? With other schools my daughter applied to, they were very specific as to her invites for honors programs where it was clear she matched to the application. My first thought was, why ask a candidate to jump through another hoop (essay) if you denied them from regular major? That would make zero sense (and be pretty tacky! )
My friend who applied RD was accepted January 15th into Physics. Applying ED or RD doesn’t really affect your chances all that much (or at all, I’m not sure). We should have another wave soon, which will most likely include RD and ED acceptances.
I think it’s the waiting that makes us feel hyped up and creates these discussions, credit to UT A for making the past weeks so memorable lol
When is the new wave? This week?
There will almost certainly be one this week, since 2/1 is when all priority applicants have to hear back. Last year UT was able to release RD and priority decisions on 1/23/20, but they could be behind this year, so you never know.
There has to be some type of notification before Feb 1 for all the priority applicants. What day this week who knows?
Has to be before Friday I suppose?
So do they release all the COFA decisions at one time?
I just spoke to AO and she said that they are almost done with AA and next is non AA and we should hear about non AA by Feb 1st or earlier. I wonder if there are any availability in COLA for non AA if most of AA are offered COLA as an alternate choice to their major. I feel for all bright kiddos who did not get in to their desired major. I also, feel for kiddos who had COLA as their first choice but couldn’t get it due to the seats possibly being filled by kiddos who are offered as an alternate major. Life is not fair I guess.
did he/she say if its RD as well?
Maybe it’s just my sunny optimism, but I think when they make COLA offers, they’ll expect a lower yield (and therefore maybe increase the number of COLA offers).
That doesn’t bode well for the OOS priority applicants who haven’t heard yet!
It seems that the AO would also refer to OOS applicants as non-AA. The U probably wants to keep its target at 10% OOS students since they provide geographic diversity, great stats, low admission rate and some are also legacies trapped OOS.
That makes sense. I wasn’t sure with the increased number of applications this year whether the 10% OOS would go down to accommodate more in state applicants. I don’t really know how it all works.
Totally agree. They’ve done this for far too long to not know that AAs that are offered COLA will likely walk. Leaving room for non-AA to take those spots.
Same - daughter is non-AA Communication and Leadership major. Crickets. What’s crazy is she was selected as a semi-finalist for the Forty Acres Scholars Program (187 students chosen out of 4700 applicants). We are waiting to hear if she made it to the next round of 50 students. It’s a FULL RIDE to UT - and yet she still hasn’t heard a peep from UT Admissions!
was she contacted by personal email about advancing to next round?
