Chances and suggestions please?

Also Looking at Brown, SMU, Northwestern, and Texas A&M

I don’t know much about UT-Austin, but I bet that your 2.9 GPA needs to be improved if you want to be admitted.

Average transfer GPA for UT is a little north of 3.6. For COLA, the college which holds the Psych dept., the average GPA is around a 3.4 - 3.5. If you were able to raise your grades to say a 3.2 or 3.3, I’d say you’d have a shot, but with a 2.9, I very very highly doubt you’ll get in.

I think you have a chance at SMU and A&M, but I’m not nearly as familiar with their transfer profile as I am with UT’s.

UT Austin will expect alot higher than 2.9. I know for a fact that their average GPA for incoming transfers in mccomb’s business school is a 3.8 for TX residents and a 3.9 for out of state, so you can probably bet that they will look for a high gpa in other departments. They are just a well rounded school to begin with and transfer admission is really selective. I’m also looking to transfer into UT Austin as a junior sophomore in 1.5 years, so i’ve done my homework :)

I am estimating about a 3.4 at minimum before I graduate. I still have 15-17 credit hours coming in the spring. I forgot to mention that I’m a resident, though I am going to an out of state school.
Thanks for the posts. Please feel free to add more and mention anything else that could help my chances.
