UT Austin vs. LSU vs. Tufts etc.

<p>Hello College Confidential! I’m currently applying for schools and am unsure of what college I will ultimately attend. I am looking to major in computer science, and I’m interested in 5 schools in particular, UT Austin, Depaul University, LSU, Tufts University, and UT Dallas. Of these schools, I’m pretty sure UT Austin has the strongest Computer Science program, but if I were to go there, I would most likely have no breaks in tuition. As for LSU, I would be attending the Honors College and would most likely be eligible for around $10-$15,000 worth of scholarships. If I were to attend UT Dallas, I would most likely transfer to UT Austin after one year, but I would definitely be eligible for scholarships during my one year at UT Dallas. Additionally, today I was contacted by Tufts University and asked to apply for admission, as I would be a likely candidate for a scholarship of around $25,000 a year. Lastly, there is Depaul University. I visited Depaul this past summer and was thoroughly impressed by their computer science program. I also love the Chicago area, and i would most likely be eligible for several scholarships there as well. </p>

<p>With all this said, I suppose I have three main questions:

  1. How do the computer science programs at these colleges compare to one another?
  2. Which college’s degree would hold the highest prestige?
  3. How should I weigh my choice based on the prestige of the university versus the amount of financial aid I would receive?</p>
