UT can't accept students outside of the top 8% until February 1st?

<p>The other day one of my friends informed me that UT is not allowed to accept students who are not automatically admitted by the (stupid, in my opinion) top 8% rule. Does anybody know if this is true?</p>

<p>A girl I know (OOS, from an unranked school) got admitted to UT in December or so. Don’t worry!</p>

<p>OP, your friend is mistaken. As the other poster said, plenty of holistic review applicants (meaning Texas non-top 8%, OOS and international) have already received decisions. UT Admissions has been telling everyone they’ll be done by February 15, so you should hear by then, at the latest.</p>
