UT need not reconsider admission for the two students who sued

A federal judge has refused to order the University of Texas to reconsider applications by two white students who contend that the university’s admission policies discriminate on the basis of race. </p>

<p>Judge Sam Sparks of the U.S. District Court in Austin declined to issue a preliminary injunction requiring UT to re-evaluate the students’ applications without consideration of race and to admit them if they qualified under such a review. The plaintiffs, whose applications had been rejected, were seeking an injunction so that they could enroll at UT in the fall pending the outcome of their lawsuit. </p>

<p>Sparks’ ruling, filed late Thursday, is a victory for the university and a setback for Abigail Fisher, a student at Stephen F. Austin High School in Sugar Land, and Rachel Michalewicz, who attends Jack C. Hays High School in Buda. </p>

<p>Of course they’re not going to have enough evidence to overrule the status quo. The admissions people at whose discretion they were rejected aren’t going to get up before the court and admit they would have had a better chance if they were black.</p>

<p>Everyone knows that they do. I’m glad that these 2 girls didn’t get crap though. Its a ******** frivolous law suit regardless. </p>

<p>The second to last thing UT wants is more white people, the last thing is more asians haha.</p>

<p>Now that I am in, I could care less about the future classes. I’m still pis-sed about my friend that didn’t get in, but we are asian so its understandable but w/e.</p>
