<p>i don’t know if there are any collegiate debaters on cc, but if there are any ut debaters on here…i wanted to know how good the debate program is at ut. individual events or cx debate…it doesn’t matter if you do either. let me know how much the speech/debate team travels at ut, how good the coaches are, how much time it takes to practice and to be committed to the program, etc.</p>
<p>I don’t know personally, but I’ve heard it is a tremendous time commitment. I believe you can only miss two tournaments, you must attend practices, etc etc. I’m pretty sure they travel a lot. It pretty much takes up most (if not all) of your weekends, from what I know. Oh, and I don’t think you can take your cell phone with you to tournaments.
So basically don’t join if you are not going to be completely serious and committed to it.</p>
<p>I probably should have also said that from what I’ve heard, their program is one of the top ones in the country and that the people who are in it and are committed absolutely love it.</p>
<p>sounds good! i’d like to be part of a serious team like that, as long as they allow ample time for academics.</p>
