I hope to transfer to UTA in Fall of 2018. I wondered if the Honors College is worth it? I have a 4.0 but will be transferring with 68 hours from Tarrant County College. I don’t know if there’s any way for me to even be eligible since I need to have 1/2 my degree unfinished to be in Honors. Assuming they’ll let me drop some credits, would it be worth it or should I write it off as a possibility?
Any advice here?
UTA requires you to have a 3.35 gpa and your application is reviewed by committee. I wouild certainly suggest you apply for the honors program. I don’t think having 68 hours will be a issue. The committee will make the final decision. Best of luck to you.
@Elizabeth93 it’s definitely worth it. there are so many cool perks and benefits associated with being in the Honors College … it’s all on their website. Not to mention, it looks great on a resume
UT Arlington’s Honors College is really a close knit community and one of the better ones in the state from my observation.
@Elizabeth93 also if you for whatever reason don’t like it or think the college is too overwhelming you can always remove yourself from the Honors College at no cost. You really have nothing to lose but it’s always a good idea to try to apply to the honors college if you have a good shot of actually getting in … again I read most positively things about it. Also most of the Honors College kids go on to advance their education past the bachelor’s level obtaining fancy Masters Degrees, PhDs, JDs, MDs, etc, placing them among the elite in this country when it comes to level of educational attainment.
