UVA 2024 Early Action Discussion

They said Mid February, but hopefully a little sooner.

The waiting is distressing!

@sunquebec and @chb088, in the article cited above :

https://www.cavalierdaily.com/article/2019/11/u-va-receives-largest-early-action-applicant-pool-in-its-history-for-the-class-of-2024

it states"

"The University’s early action plan deadline was Nov. 1, and applicants will hear back about the status of their applications by the end of January. "

@BRAZUSA This is taken directly from their website, just now

“Early Decsion (yes they made a typo) applicants can expect decisions by the middle of December. Early Action applicants can expect decisions to be posted by the middle of February. Regular Decision applicants can expect decisions by the end of March. Keep an eye on the admission blog for updates!”

I found it in their FAQ

Do decisions come out in batches or all at the same time?

Based on last year’s thread, it looks like EA decisions came out on January 25th . . .

The notification timeline is in [the application instructions.](https://admission.virginia.edu/admission/instructions)

If you aren’t aware of this timeline, you may have missed other important pieces of info in the instructions. Please be sure to read them.

^ yep. That is where I found it. And I see the typo was corrected.

How competitive is the Kinesiology Program? (in state)

Last year they informed on Friday Jan 25, so if they are following same timeline perhaps will be Friday Jan 24 this year.

@FLParent888 last year they did NOT have Early Decision. Because of now having the ED option, they have moved the notification date of EA to mid-February. Of course, it could always be earlier - but I don’t think it will be in January this year.

On CSS, the award letter date is 2/3/2020 so maybe that’s the day they are planning to send notifications out.

Question . . . on the Deadlines and Instructions page, it says mid-year reports for EA applicants are due “when available”. It also says “Mid-Year Reports (self-reported through applicant portal).” Does anyone know WHERE in the portal we self-report first semester grades?

@separatelayer
I suggest calling the admission office; they were very helpful.

I thought mid-year reports were not required for EA. That was even mentioned several times at admissions presentations - that EA is a good choice if you don’t need senior grades to show improvement, etc. Plus our midterms aren’t over til the very end of January.

@ash980123 and @Musicmom2015 I emailed the undergraduate admissions office, and they were very helpful. Here is the response: “If you have already submitted your Common Application to our office, please log into your MyUVA Application Portal to upload this information under the Upload Materials section.” So, it does look like we need to upload them. And @Musicmom2015 I am in the same boat–I will not have final grades until the first week in February, so I will upload it then.

Are decisions coming out Friday?
