UVA, Notre Dame, Cornell... sum more

<p>this is for a friend of mine…</p>

<p>white male from fairfield county, really competitive public high school (already have a yale, a harvard, an emory, a vanderbilt, a stanford, a middlebury, then some lesser but still quality schools like GWU, colgate…)</p>

<p>our school doesnt rank but easily top 10%, prolly top 5 or 6%, but once again we dont rank</p>

<p>3.6uw, 4w</p>

<p>one of hardest courseloads, several APs, several honors classes</p>

<p>SAT - 1430/2110</p>

<p>720 chem
730 math 2
720 bio</p>

<p>ecs</p>

<p>varsity football 4 yrs
varsity skiing 4 yrs, captain senior year
fishing club, 4 yrs
track and field - 2 yrs</p>

<p>Main extracurricular is working at the volunteer fire department… have over 2000 hours community service (not realyl sure percisely how many hours, but basically unlimited due to all the work and the calls that go untimed… some can go on for 5 or more hours)… made second lieutenant at the firehouse</p>

<p>worked with a congressman on his re-election campaign (chris shays)</p>

<p>was class secretary junior year, have sum trinkets of other ecs (random volunteer stuff, like relay for life and the like, won a reflections program essay contest, catholic youth group)</p>

<p>also talked about sum photography contests won</p>

<p>recs - gc one was about how mom had cancer and almost died during soph year (fairly heart wrenching, really good) and other one from AP english teacher (also very good)</p>

<p>i dont know much about uva, umaryland or notre dame, but i DO think you have a good chance at cornell. what college did you apply to? if you spoke about your interests etc for the specific college at cornell, i wouldnt be surprised if you got in.</p>

<p>instate hes into uva bc 5-6% from a competitive public is a really high acceptance rate into virginia, especially from a fairfax school. notre dame hes got a chance but they’ve gotten very selective, so slight reach is appropriate, cornell is random with their admissions but he’s a match to slight reach type of applicant depending on how they view the volunteer fire department because it isn’t very common but i suppose his passion will be admirable. ur friends got good credentiels and shouldnt worry too much because he will no doubt be at a good school next year</p>

<p>umm, hes not instate, hes from CT(fairfield county, not fairfax county), and the school doesnt rank so the 5% is just a guess but theres no official statistic</p>
