Hello! I’m interested to apply to UVA’s summer program Leadership on the Lawn since I’m into leadership and really into community service, non-profit work, etc. I was wondering if anyone has ever gone, how their experience was, and if the application process was competitive or not.
I do have a fair share of leadership positions and have attended a HoBY CLeW (youth leadership workshop) before, but my main thing is community service (Having over 200 hours and being social media coordinator of a non-profit, class leader of a music school, etc and of course school clubs and offices, etc). I’m in good academic standing (3.9/4.0 weighted) and can probably get good teacher reccomendations. Oh, and I’m a current sophomore. Do you think I would be a good match for this program?
Thank you for the input!

@exodusdarling Since your post is from 2011 you probably already made your decision on whether or not to apply for the Leadership on the Lawn (LOL) 2012 program. All rising juniors and seniors are eligible to apply so it looks like you still have another year of eligibility if you are interested in submitting an application. LOL is designed to meet the needs of experienced high school leaders as well as those just beginning their leadership journey by helping you strengthen your natural talents, develop new skills, and challenge the way you consider service to those around you. UVA faculty and staff members facilitate the week-long learning experience. You can check out the LOL website to apply for the 2013 program. [Leadership on the Lawn](http://www.leadershiponthelawn.com) The program also has a facebook page and Twitter account for you to follow. This year, students will be staying in newly constructed, air-conditioned residence halls. I’ll leave it to other users to evaluate the program itself but you should definitely apply (if you haven’t already)!
