UVA's "To tweet or not to tweet" essay

I am having trouble with a certain aspect of this essay, and have gotten mixed responses from people I have asked so far about it. I know that the admissions officers have to have some knowledge of Twitter to be able to judge the essays, but how much knowledge? For example, I use the term “subtweet” in my essay. For those that don’t know what that is, it is when one person tweets about another person without tagging them in it, so they don’t get notified of it. It is usually used to negatively talk about the person. But back to the main point, can I assume the admissions officers know what a subtweet is? I have a sentence briefly explaining them already in my essay, but some have told me it doesn’t really fit in with the rest of the essay. Others have told me it won’t make sense without it. What do you guys think?

Edited for typos.

Are you saying that a portion of the prompt for the essay includes mention of Twitter? That seems rather bizarre. I would have absolutely nothing to say about Twitter, given that I do not have a Twitter account.

I didn’t know what a sub-tweet was until just now, so a little clarification may be needed in your essay.
