UW Autumn 2014 Transfer Thread

going off of what i just wrote… i am going to be a sophmore this coming fall… but by credits am a junior. what degrees are you guys in? i’m musical theatre.

I also sent mine in hours before the deadline, and all my transcripts (especially high school) were super late! They had to nag me for them in May. I am an in-state transfer as a junior from a WA CC. My unofficial loaded on June 6, letters of acceptance and packet arrived 4 and 5 days after. Judging by how not on the ball I was with my application material, I don’t think it has anything to do with when you sent it in… My intended major is biology and international studies (I stated in the app I wanted to dual major).

Hope that info helps add to the speculation

how was ur gpa and stuff coming in? if you don’t mind me asking! and too everyone that hasn’t heard… no news is good news at this point!!!

@ cklclouds don’t mind at all! My GPA was pretty sad compared to other stats I saw on here, it was a 3.05 at the time I applied. That should be proof enough they value other factors other than GPA alone!

@nornorbalina‌ were you at one of the CC that were direct transfers… pretty much an automatic spot in the school?

@cklclouds, I’m not sure what you mean by “automatic spot”. UW does prioritize students coming from Washington State CCs, but admission is still pretty competitive for these students, and UW does not prioritize the completion of the AA-DTA. A WA state CC student with 90 credits and no degree is just as competitive as a student with a DTA degree, provided they have completed major requirements and other UW requirements.

oh ok! some schools I know that if you go to certain community colleges you have a direct spot. so i wasn’t sure at UW and if there were schools like that. they didn’t pertain to me so I didn’t do the research. haha well congrats and thanks for all the information (:

oh wait were you admitted @Candela2‌

now just a question… i read that you did not need test scores unless you were under 40 credits or something like that… would they contact you if they really needed those?

@cklclouds‌ Yes I did. I think most if not all Washington CCs are part of the DTA/MRP agreement. Thanks @Candela2‌, you’re completely correct! I applied to back ups just in case. While at the CC, I chose to complete the AS Track 1, Biology, and AA degrees to make sure I had options. However, I think community and civil service is what really helped me out.

@cklclouds, I was admitted as a transfer student for this Fall.

To answer your second question, they do not need SAT or ACT scores if you have over 45 credits. If they did need them, they probably would have contacted you.

ok cool! well the waiting continues (: congrats to both of you! and thanks for still responding even though you were admitted already!!

Has anyone heard back regarding their financial aid? Do they only let you know your award package after you send in your $300?

@Bridgewood‌ My 300 processed on 18Jun but my financial aid is still pending review.

@ckclouds I applied as a drama major! and sent in my application about 2-3 weeks after they opened.

I’ve been checking my unofficial transcript everyday and it still hasn’t loaded. How can I check the status of my application? Is it just on home page where it says “Thank you for applying” ? Thanks everyone!

oh ok! good to know. there isn’t any way to see if there is any changes on your application. we all just realized that your unoffical transcript will probably load if you were admitted. but there were a couple people on here that were admitted that it didn’t load for. @vivianshmibbian‌ are you a 2 year transfer and from where?

@vivianshmibbian‌ The way we have been checking this other than the letter is to go to
MyUW–>Admissions–>After you have been admiitted–>unofficial transcript.

If your app is still under review it will be an error page. If you have been accepted, it will show you an unofficial with your high school CADR credits and your student ID number (the indicator of your acceptance). Your transfer credits will be evaluated and added after you pay your NSEOF fee.

Do you know if people have figured out if it is a no? I know someone said there “transfer application” was gone. Also, if you click that link that is the “transfer application: autumn quarter 2014” the message under it saying here is how we will contact you and blah blah blah it says "This message will not change unless additional information is required or until a final admission decision is made. " so hopefully that will be an indicator for us that they have made a decision!

@ckclouds I’m from California and I attended a state school for a year and a cc the past 2 years, so I may be a special case…

@nornorbalina‌ Okay I’ve been checking the right thing then. Thanks!

Major would be in engineering. I think my general application was submitted near the deadline as well so maybe it is based on when you apply? I hope at least…
