Hi, I’m a high school senior set to graduate in June (yay!!!) I got accepted to both the University of Washington Bothell, and San Diego State University where I plan to major in CS. And I am unable to decide between the two schools. I am a resident of Washington so tuition will be cheaper at UWB. But I am basically already in the CS program at SDSU. I did running start at a local community college where I expect to earn my associates, and my credits transfer to both schools. Can someone from both schools explain to me their experience at these universities? Thanks.
What’s your net cost at each? How much can your parents pay without borrowing? If affordability is an issue, staying in state will probably be better.
SDSU is definitely better than Bothell, but the issue is cost… What’s your budget?
UW B would likely be $14,000, whereas SDSU would be $35,000… can your parents afford SDSU without borrowing for you?
I ultimately picked UW Bothell due to the cheaper tuition and their computer science program has more funding
@MYOS1634: UW-Bothell grads do pretty darn well. I believe their grads have similar earnings to UW-Seattle grads.
^ How do you measure that? Do you mean in professional outcomes?
When I last checked, Bothell was heavily commuter and didn’t really have a campus. The students skewed older and more part time. It had a distinct ’ secondary branch ’ feel. It wasn’t nearly as good as SDSU which is one of the top csu 'd and in some ways better than ucr/ucm. However it may have changed in the past couple years.
@MYOS1634: College Scorecard salary data. UW-Bothell and UW-Seattle are almost identical.
Granted, having older working PT students may actually help Bothell in that metric.
