Accepted. OOS EA - originally deferred. 33 ACT, strong EC’s, interested in majoring in psychology.
I have not received an admissions decision. I think my ACT reached the office a few days late, and UW Madison seems pretty serious about that, but I’ve received every other admissions update. Is that something that would lead to a rejection, and if I’m not accepted because of my ACT, do you think the application would at least say “denied” or will I be stuck in limbo forever?
@25Raider you ready for that Northeastern decision though? Same pool here

Waitlisted CS?, if someone got a better option than UW Madisom, I request him/her to decline the purdue offer as soon as possible so that it can boost up my chances for getting accepted to.my dream school. I haven’t recieved any acceptance letter as of now( 5 rejection letter?), as a result of which I am more inclined towards this offer.

If you’re wondering how I got in and some with higher stats didn’t/got waitlisted I had very strong essays that probably played a huge factor
Someone raised a great point…we aren’t seeing any denials. Is there anyone that was denied?
Maybe people that were denied don’t want to post it to CC? Or are you thinking that everybody got waitlisted instead?
Does anybody understand the 17% stat that they had on the waitlist letter? Does it mean that 17% of admitted students are from the waitlist…or…that 17% of the waitlist end up being admitted??
@HokieCrazy we took it as (17%) 1 out of 5 or 6 students from the waitlist were admitted in the past. We also read there are years in the past where no one from the waitlist were admitted.
And what does “added to waitlist in unranked order mean”? Are people granted admission from the waitlist randomly? If so, then why state that you can send in grades, other achievements, etc.? I wish they provided more insight into the process.
What that means (supposedly) is that they haven’t ranked the waitlist students. When it comes time to start admitting from the waitlist, candidates will be re-evaluated. I honestly think that this is BS. I think they state that so people don’t call up to find out what their ranking is. But, that’s just my thought.
567Blurker - it means there is no order or any other set process for admitting people off the waitlist - they will fill spots based on the school’s institutional needs - it could be filling certain majors, taking kids with full pay, etc. The school is maintaining max flexibility to fill spots depending on who and how many kids choose to enroll thru the regular acceptance list. I wouldn’t count on the waitlist - from year to year, the number of waitlist acceptances can vary greatly.
how on earth were you waitlisted with these stats?
FWIW, in an email response, the admission people told my son that their waitlist is random, and taking SAT again (or other similar factors) will not change his chances. So, we imagine as they get declines (from accepted students), they will draw names form the waitlist hat to fill their pipeline.
Yes but not expecting admission - good chance of waitlist
I wish I knew! These are my son’s stats, rather than mine, but he is befuddled.
