Here and in other areas, I haven’t heard of anyone being denied. Have you? Just wondering if it is worth it to join the waitlist.
Accepted!!!

I hope most of you have received your Decision today. I got my decision today for Admission in the College of Letters & Sciences my First Choice College. But it does not mention Computer Science as offered major. I understand Computer Science is not a capped major in UW? Is my understanding correct?
Waitlisted.
OOS (in MN, which has reduced tuition with reciprocity)
12 AP classes
36 ACT
3.7 UW GPA
NMF
US Presidential Scholar Candidate
Moderate EC’s - speech, theatre, graphic design internship, no leadership roles
This was one of her top choices - loved the access to to the state capitol as well as the comfortable campus that felt like home. Super bummed.
how on earth did she get waitlisted with those stats?
The admission officers believe that this person is unlikely to attend Wisconsin Madison because she would be accepted to a better University and she will go there instead. This would decrease their yield rate.
The hidden truth of Universities.
In the first year, you need to take certain courses and get a certain GPA in order to actually get admitted to CS in the second year.
I appreciate the insight. We unfortunately did not find this website early enough in our search and with little guidance perhaps overreached in terms of her other applications. There are some options with excellent packages for NMF (which we found out only recently and missed out on many of those too) but they are all thousands of miles away. While they may still be an option, it’s scary with all that’s going on now. Best of luck to all.
Waitlisted:
33 ACT
3.9 Unweighted GPA, 4.4 Weighted
4 APs
11 Honors
Extremely strong extracurriculars and community service (Ex. Senior Class President, PR officer, started my own administrative council, executive committee member of the teen gala and leadership society for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, honors choir plus training and competition at Carnegie Hall and Symphony Center, statewide community education and leadership award winner, NHS, etc…)

I wish this was like Facebook with a sad face.
Has anyone heard about being accepted into honors program and/or if they received any merit scholarship money?.
I got waitlisted as an out of state student. I applied Chemical Engineering

Madison was my number one pick and this decision came as a pretty big shock.
Does anyone know what I can do to increase my chances of getting off the waitlist? Thanks for any information you can give me.
@stumplittle Accepted into UW ChemE program and just got an acceptance letter from Berkeley and GaTech for Chemical and Biomolecular engineering program so I will be declining Wisconsin offer. Hope this helps you and good luck!
I think this year the waitlist will go pretty deep. Nobody knows what will happen.
I hope most of you have received your Decision today. congratulations to all those who have accepted!!! I got my decision today for Admission in the College of Letters & Sciences my First Choice College. It mentions as Path of study : Computer Science : BS and Status : Admitted in the profile . @barrons - Can you elaborate what you meant by “deep”? Thanks.
I took that to mean that a lot of people will be taken from the waitlist.
