U.S. News and World Report has stripped UW-Madison’s graduate engineering program of its top-15 national ranking after learning the university submitted incorrect figures for its acceptance rate that made the program seem more selective than it actually was.

“Demoted”, only by the arbitrary ranking system that is USNWR.

I would guess that most of the faculty of the engineering school as well as the President of the university and, most importantly, applicants to the UW grad program, could care less about USNWR rankings.

True but the incorrect reporting (and how far it was off) is a big deal. My W worked in a college’s IR dept and they were very careful with their data and calculations. That range of error shows the school has some major issues.
