IU has Econ major both inside and outside the business school. Admission is very likely outside Kelley and likely as a direct admit inside Kelley as long as they keep the direct admit criteria same as this year.

The GPA and SAT scores are on the lower end of admitted students for UIUC. Econ is in LAS and would be an easier admit than Finance, which is in Gies. Both are attainable, especially in state, but be sure to have other options as it seems to get more competitive every year.

You meet current IU Kelley direct admit criteria, so if they keep the same criteria for next year, that will be a safety (assuming it’s affordable.) Not sure you would need the Purdue option, unless you like that school better for some reason.

UIUC and Wisconsin will be reachy…take a look at the Naviance/Scoir scattergrams if your school uses one of those software programs. Have you asked your counselor how they would categorize these schools? Do you know your approximate class rank? I expect many students from your HS will apply to both these schools, so you will be compared to them.

Lastly, you might get some business type ECs going…DECA, or FBLA (or any biz/econ club your HS has, or a job. Both UIUC and Madison will ask why this major in the supplementals…and it’s easier to answer those if you have some business ECs, as well as giving compelling support for what you want to study.
