I haven’t.
It’s making me nervous.
If it makes you feel any better, neither have I. At the very least–should this mean rejection–we can handle it together lol
Anyone hear anything???
no, I guess no decision today?? Idk if this is a good thing or not
I received an email yesterday saying that I won’t get a final decision until I submit my spring grades.
I received my decision today! ACCEPTED!
I got accepted!!
ME TOO!!! CONGRATS!!!
I am happy that I got accepted, but to be honest I do not know if I am able to go. I’m tight on money, and I do not know if Madison is generous to transfer students on financial aid. I also applied for FAFSA back in March.
I am also from Minnesota too
Also: I’m going to drop my stats for anyone transferring in future years who are nervous about their decision.
-In-state
-transferred from a private out of state university in New York
High school Stats: (was accepted to UW-Madison as a freshman admit out of high school)
- 3.4 UW GPA (All honors; 4 APs)
- ECs: theatre, choir, science olympiad, soccer, tennis, student council, multicultural club board member
- 30 ACT
College Stats:
- wrote for school paper (not very involved otherwise)
- 3.73 GPA fall semester (17 credits)
- 3.4 GPA spring semester (18 credits; six of which were chem)
- one rec letter from my first semester french teacher who went to graduate school at UW-Madison (I have no idea how well this letter was written as she directly submitted it to the school)
I also wrote a letter of continued interest after my deferral & expressed my commitment to attend UW-Madsion if I were accepted.
Good luck to anyone waiting on a decision
also I still don’t have transfer credits so don’t sweat it if your eval tab doesn’t chance before you get a decision.
My stats:
-In-state
-Transferred from another UW campus (SP)
High School:
3.0 GPA (had a rough time in high school)
-Various ECs
-29 ACT
College:
-In college Honors program
-An upward trend in semester GPA (3.68, 3.75, 3.9)
-Various advocacy work (JDRF, Children in Crisis Town Hall)
-Was named Stevens Point Person of the Year
-Dean’s List last semester
Sent in two letters of rec, one from a history professor (my major) and one from an Honors professor.
After deferral, sent in an additional letter of rec from my employer and a continued letter of interest stating I was fully committed to UW.
Good luck everyone! <3
I’ll put my details here as others have done, for the sake of future applicants.
Applied for the regular transfer decision timeline and received a deferral for final grades; was accepted after submitting said grades.
- In-state
- Transferred from UW-Milwaukee
- Accepted as a Computer Science major
High School:
- Weighted GPA in the 3.6/3.7 range
- 33 ACT
- Was wait-listed and ultimately denied by UW-Madison when I applied as a graduating HS student in 2014. My grades were clearly those of someone who was putting in less than maximal effort, and I had lukewarm extracurriculars. (Did not become a particularly serious person until college).
College:
- In Honors program
- Dean’s List all semesters
- 3.95 GPA
- Studied abroad for two years on scholarships from the US and Japanese government
- 80 total completed credits
I had a few withdraws (W’s) in my college transcript, including one in my final semester (the grades requested as a result of a deferral of my admission decision) Everything else was an A in that semester, however, so it didn’t prevent me from being accepted. This might be useful information to others with withdraws, or even considering a withdraw in their final semester (don’t exactly recommend it, but it might not be a deal-breaker if everything else about your app is strong).
Sent one letter of recommendation from my Honors college adviser. When deferred, I sent in a letter of continued interest. Brief but straightforward in stating that I would attend if accepted.
Best of luck to all in your future endeavors.
Has anyone got their transfer credit evaluation? I was accepted a week ago, and I still have not gotten mine.
I haven’t gotten mine, but make sure you send in your final transcript from your previous university. I just sent mine a few days ago so I don’t expect mine for a few more days at least.
I found out a few days ago that the on-campus housing application was already closed after May 1. So what happens if you were accepted in June? Is there anything reserved for transfer housing, or we have to look for housing options elsewhere?
Res Halls will be full and you need to make other housing arrangements. In fact, Res Halls usually uses temporary housing for some who already have a housing contract until some students drop out or break their contract. The spaces in the transfer house are long gone. Most returning UW students opt out of the dorms so you will be among the majority who live off campus- which could be very close to it.
I was accepted almost two weeks ago (on Sunday, like many of you) and by that Friday I had signed a lease on an apartment very close to campus and the Capitol. There is plenty of housing available off-campus, you just have to look. Also, even if your apartment is a bit further, Madison has an excellent transit system.
I self reported my grades on On 20th June. (Quarter school) and had an offer by the next week. Transfer eval is also out. 52 credits off my freshman year only
Anyone who transferred to UW Madison last year: Did you live on campus your first semester? Do you recommend staying in the Transfer House or one of the normal residence halls? I’m accepted for transfer for Fall 2020, want to live on campus but the transfer house says it only has 21 students and doesn’t sound very fun tbh. Appreciate your help!
