OK. So I got in to both UCSB and UW which were repectively tied for second, but i knew i wasnt gonna get in to USC anyways. hahah. Anyways, I'm here and puzzled on where I should go. I checked the news top rankings and it ranked UW and UCSB both at 45 and 12th in public schools. I'm really unsure of what I want to be doing but I would like to keep things free so I'll probably take some pre-med classes and a wide range of courses. I guess now its down to how does prestige alter my chances for a good grad school, which has better prestige if it alters chances, and how good is it here in ucsb?

UW is 29% out of state, UCSB only 5%. UW 3% international, UCSB 1%.

The weather is a little bit more of an adventure in Wisconsin.

UW is one of the world's great research universities - biochem is particularly good. This does not always translate into the best undergrad experience.

Can you find out about undergrad research possibilities? W tells me that at her school, that they do not even consider applicants for bio grad school without undergrad research experience.

Bprepn, I think he/she is referring to University of Washington. I'd pick UCSB if I were you. UC system is known for its science and engineering programs. Plus, I don't think UWash can beat UCSB's beautiful campus.=)
