ps can i have ur email id ?

Congrats alpacallama! I didn’t get in this year. There were only two spots offered for over 200 applicants, so really hard to get in. I thought there would be more spots because Singapore has a UWC, but turns out not. You weren’t the only one that had the interviewers grill you, the NC was really hard on all of us at the camp interview! Asked us really awkward questions too. I’m glad to have gotten so far in the interviews though, and the camp was a great experience. Good luck to everyone else who still has an interview!

Congratulations, Alpacallama! How exciting! I think you are our first CC member to get accepted to the UWCs. What a great two years it will be!

Hello!

I’m interviewing March 23, 2013 in Albuquerque, NM.
This thread has comforted me greatly as the date looms near.

Any tips on the group games and discussion? What is it like?
How many people per interview site? I heard there were approximately 36 people - which makes sense (100 people interviewed for USA, 3 interview sites, 30-36 people per site).

Thanks!

That’s interesting. Only 3 U. S. interview sites this year?! In the last two years there were more sites and only about 10 applicants per site. I’m sure it’s easier on the selection committee. I think people are traveling much longer distances this year.

That data is just what I gather from this forum! I could be entirely wrong

Where is everyone from and where are you doing your interview?

Let’s get some hard numbers on what we should be expecting at our interviews!

CONGRATULATIONS ALPACALLAMA. I cannot even imagine how excited you must be right now. Can you tell us some of the questions they asked you in the interviews? Thanks!

For us we weren’t asked national issues for Canada, but regional issues. I talked about Nature Deficit Disorder and how I find that my generation is spending less and less time outdoors and the global and personal impacts this has. I didn’t really need to do any extra research because it’s a cause I’m very passionate about and have done a lot for. I’d say feel comfortable with your subject and do some extra reading if you get an Interview to show them you didn’t just find some issue on the fly that might look good on the application; show them you’re invested!

U.S. interview sites of which I’m aware:

Boston
Albuquerque
Chicago

Is that right?

Congrats alpacallama!

Wooooo!!! Alpacallama, congratulations! I really want to find out if I’ve gotten in now. Only 2 and some more weeks. Arghh! I’m so anxious.

Hi there!
First of all congratulations Alpacallama.
Although I am not a 2013 applicant I’ve been reading this thread for a while. I am already very excited but the earliest I can apply is next year. I can"t wait another year. I keep my fingers crossed for all of you waiting for your results.

woah those are scary odds! I am also from BC but I live up north, so hopefully that could give me an advantage?

I don’t think there’s a geographical advantage. The only thing I could think that they might take into account is taking no more than 1 person per school so that the students don’t know each other prior to UWC. At my school, 10 people applied and the principal was asked to rank the students and pick a favourite, resulting in probably only one person even being considered and all the other students to have this unfair bias immediately stuck to their application.
