UWC Applicants for the 2013 school year!

@KatlinaCanada Hey  I’m from Canada as well (woot!) we should keep in touch… I’m from ON, you? They said they would get back to me/us about interviews late March early April… but other than that i haven’t heard anything  as far as i know people told me to be myself, shine my best and show my true colours!

Can anyone tell me some of the questions asked by the USA committee so im mentally prepared if i do get an interview? thanksss!

Hey guys! I have an interview in Chicago on March 23rd. I was just wondering if anyone else in the U.S. admission process had gotten more information on the interview location? I replied to the email, but all I know is that my interview is in Chicago and it’s coming up! Now I’m worried that they didn’t get my response email…

Yeah I got an interview call back from MUWCI and I’m in group A on the 4th-5th of april will e there all i wanted to know is do you have any idea what will the interview be about ?

We also responded in the affirmative to the interview for Chicago but have not received information on the location. The weekend is getting close, so hopefully we’ll hear where it’s supposed to be by the end of the week.

Hello fellow applicants,
I have been selected for an interview/selection camp at uwc mahindra. I’m in group C. Do you have any tips for the aptitude test?

Hey everyone,
I posted on this thread way earlier in the fall, and applied from Nova Scotia, Canada. I am still waiting to hear if I got an interview or not. I had a question for all the canadian applicants, what was your topic for the biggest issue for canada in the coming year? Mine was aboriginal sovereignty (with everything that has been going on with teresa spence and stuff) and it is the part o my application that I am most nervous about. It was the one question that I had to do ā€˜research’ on and I am worried that if they ask me about it in an interview (if I get an interview), I won’t answer in a smart, articulate way.

Regarding the alternate plans question, I am involved in an international peace organization and an traveling to finland for a leadership program this summer regardless of if I get accepted to UWC or not. Also, my high school at home has IB so I will continue with that and apply as a grade 11 next year.

Hello everybody,

I’m always on/off on this forum so I have decided it’d be best if you guys just SENT ME INBOX MESSAGES lol because then it’ll show up in my email and I check that a lot more often than I check this thread.
I’m Natalie, at Atlantic College (the Wales one). I’m here as an American but I applied through the Chinese National Committee (grew up in Beijing) and my parents are from Hong Kong.

To all the Canadian applicants: may I just say that one of my really good friends here at AC is an amazing guy from Quebec? :)

Tips for the interview… sounds cheesy but BE YOURSELF hahaha. Talk about what you like talking about. Talk about yourself (unless it’s a group interview maybe then I can’t be of any help, sorry!) What are you passionate about? What do you care about? It can be small, it can be big. All of you seem like really nice people and honestly if you’re nice, people will like you! Smile. Smile a lot and listen a lot. :)

Hey guys!!! These past weeks have been hectic! As I said earlier, out of 200 applicants 80 are invited for an initial interview, and 40 for a final interview.

FORTUNEATLY I was invited to both - the latter interview being yesterday in Copenhagen City.

I will finally know if I have been accepted to attend a UWC College by March, Tuesday the 19th.

I. AM. LITTERALLY. DYING.

How far are you all in the admissions process in your respective countries?

That’s amazing! I think you’ll get in.
Anyway, did you have to give an aptitude test? What was that like?

Thank you very much rid1310, I hope I do. Also, in Denmark the 1. and 2. rounds were very different in what I had expected. The 1. consisted of light childsplay, debates, roleplays and an initial interview - so no aptitude test, IQ test or anything. The 2. was entirely in interview format, with the National Comitee of Denmark - they GRILLED me and I broke down in tears. It was very comical.

Which National Comitee are you applying through and what is the protocol in your country?

I have applied to UWC Mahindra, India. My interview is on 6th April, pretty excited! We have to stay overnight and engage in discussion groups, games, interact with current students as well as applicants. We, too, have two interviews but there is also an aptitude test to be given. Also, we have this ā€˜object presentation’ thing where we are expected to give a brief presentation on an object that is significant for us.

And, don’t you worry about the grilling. Apparently, there’s a lot of that here too. I’m sure they understand what the applicant is going through. It’s perfectly natural for anybody to break down into tears because of all the stress. As long as they liked your personality, you’re in!

Hello.

I have interview on Tuesday. Soo I can’t wait.
I applied to UWCiM. What question are they going to ask me ?
HELPPPPPPPPPPP

Good luck, everybody! I can’t wait to read your results! Alpaca llama, you’re lucky you’ll know so soon. My son may have an interview option after all so I am crossing my fingers. :)

One more week to the U.S. interviews!

Please can somebody write quesitons, please.

You’ll be going before U.S. kids are!

Hey guys!!! I just found out that there are 36 applicants for 18 UWC Scholarships!!! 50/50… AND they might already send out mails tommorrow! I’ll keep you all updated and in my prayers and thoughts.

Hey guys, just finished my interviews. It was a tough 9 hour process, but hopefully I did good and they will select me.

Goodluck everyone,
Mayo from Lebanon

Hey Mayo! One of my best friends in from Libanon - how is the selection process in your country??

It was 9 hours long, first we did activities, debates etc… Then during the activities we would be taken alone to the interviews.
There is a lot of competitiveness, and I’m praying to get accepted. I was the best person I could be and I’m hoping for the best alpacallama.
