I am extremely fortunate then. Will be flying to my interview soon.

My back-up plan is Students On Ice to Antarctica and doing a few classes (Economy and the environment, introduction to Judaism, Christianity, and Island, and the ethics of war, terrorism and violence) at the university here on the island on the side. There’s a program that allows this through high school :)

That sounds cool! (no pun intended) :)

Anyone have an interview in Chicago on the 23rd of march?

Having been through this process myself last year, I’m here to help answer any of your questions to the best of my ability about UWC.

@rainycity could you discuss with us how the interview process works? And tell us any tips that would be useful? Thank you!

Kyle has an interview on the 23rd of March in Chicago. We’ll drive up the night before and stay in a hotel. It’s about 5 - 5 1/2 hours from Cincy, depending. Fortunately, the interview date has not conflicted with anything on the calendar. A minor miracle! Sounds like a full day, too.

Good luck all! I think DS is out of luck because the State Dept says he can absolutely NOT leave his program to fly back for the interview. :(

@bergen Im about a 6 hour drive. I look forward to meeting Kyle at the interview. Best of luck to him. It’ll be nice to meet some of these potential UWCers!

There’s a personal interview, various games, and some discussions. In the background, there’s going to be people (alum) with clipboards watching and taking notes on you. It’s quite fun and you can enjoy yourself.

I didn’t think I had a really good interview. My advice would for all of you would to be yourself. It sounds really cliche but I think its really important they get the most honest impression of you. UWC sounded like a perfect utopia to me, but its not and this experience is right for everyone.

So did you end up going?

I’d be interested in reading more about your experience, too, Rainycity. UWCCR can’t be too bad - I think two of the UWCUSA faculty sent their own kids there. My D has loved her experience at UWCUSA. I have never heard her express any concerns or regrets even though she had hoped to go abroad.

I’m from India and I have applied for the UWCs this year… Just waiting for the interview call…
Anyone here who has been invited to MUWCI yet?

@garyoak I’m from Canada too…ON… do you know the stats for us Canadians? Like what is the likely-hood of a person getting in… You mentioned they were slim… and do you know when they will contact us for interviews?
i also heard US applicants get two interviews but i think we get one?

Hey everyone…what are your choices for collages if you do get in? Mines UWC Adriatic-- i hear they have an excellent arts program! I don’t know much about the one is Costa-Rica… but sounds nice UWC MUWCI sounds really nice as well!

@smelltheroses91

Mine are U.S., Canada, and Wales, though this may change. I would like to experience other campuses, but… parents.

@smelltheroses91, the stats overall for canadians is that 10% of applicants get accepted. That being said, I’ve heard that Ontario is particularly bad, same with BC. I reckon here it’s around 8% that gets in (so 1 in 12). The interviews for my committee will be announced very late March or early April.

For my province, there are only scholarships to go to Pearson College, so if I get in that’s where I’ll go (even though that’s around a 45 minute drive for me hahah!) I love my island so I’m not complaining My first choice would’ve been UWC-RCN, but my second was Pearson.

How has everyone’s interviews been going?? I just had mine a couple of hours go, and honestly don’t know what to think. This was the first I’ve ever opened up about myself and my passions so much that my brain literally feels fried. Mixed emotions on how it went, could have answered some things better but when they said ‘casual chat’ it felt like more of a self reflection discussion :b

Hi! I’m from Canada, and I applied to UWC. I haven’t heard back yet, though. Have any of you lovely other Canadians heard back? Let me know. For the rest of you, do any of y’all have tips on what to do for the interview or on how to comfort my heart in the event that I don’t get one? Thanks you gorgeous human beings.

@KatlinaCanada
Hey! I’d say that the questions are very general. Not sure what the difference would be for Canada, but they ask you about your passions, why you want to go, what distinguishes you from the other candidates etc. I found some questions outputting like, was there a time when your integrity was challenged, and when you’ve been criticized. Those were difficult! I say that after my interview I realized that we have so much to live for even if we don’t get in! The things that I’m involved in now, bring would bring me as much joy and self-fulfillment as going to UWC :)
